Louis C.K. Ticket Experiment Pays Off, Actor Sells $4.5 Million In Two Days

Louis C.K. hates the middle man. Earlier this year the comedian decided to produce his own show and release the video to the public for $5 a pop. That experiment paid off pretty well. Now, the comedian is cutting out Ticket Master and other ticket vendors in order to sell his tickets directly to fans. Louis C.K. has sold more than $4.5 million in the last two days.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Louis C.K. has sold over 100,000 tickets in the last 45 hours to net more than $4.5 million.

In a statement on his website, Louis C.K. said that two things have kept him from lowering the price of his tickets: Service charges from companies like Ticket Master and scalpers.

Louis C.K. said:

“Making my shows affordable has always been my goal but two things have always worked against that. High ticket charges and ticket re-sellers marking up the prices. Some ticketing services charge more than 40% over the ticket price and, ironically, the lower I’ve made my ticket prices, the more scalpers have bought them up, so the more fans have paid for a lot of my tickets.”

C.K. will make plenty of money by selling his own tickets. When he sold his album online, he made more than $1 million in just 12 days and he ended up giving a lot of that money to charity. The comedian will likely do the same with his ticket sales.

Louis C.K. said:

“I don’t do this for money… To me, it’s the number of tickets I sell that’s satisfying. I like knowing we sold out Chicago in an hour. That’s a good feeling. This year I’m going to have the lowest tickets on the road. I’m going to be the cheapest comedian ever!”
