‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood Wins Custody Battle With Gary Shirley

Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood has finally achieved her goal of getting custody of her daughter Leah back. Amber has been struggling to gain time with her daughter since returning from prison in 2013.

According to Radar Online, Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood got what she asked for this Christmas, her daughter, Leah. In the recently released Teen Mom OG trailer, Amber is seen talking to a lawyer about getting custody of Leah back, and that day has come.

Reportedly, Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley came to an agreement that gives Portwood 50/50 custody of the pair’s daughter, meaning that little Leah will split her time evenly between her mother and father.

Amber Portwood’s ex-fiancé, Gary Shirley, has had full custody of Leah since Amber went to prison. Teen Mom fans may remember that Portwood opted to go to prison instead of complete a drug program. Amber later explained that she did it to save her life because she was too far into her pill addiction. Amber spent over a year behind bars, got herself clean, and has been sober since being released two years ago.

“Amber and Gary finally worked everything out with their lawyers two weeks ago,” a source close to Shirley, 29, revealed. “They’re both happy.”

Of course, Amber Portwood isn’t the only Teen Mom star to deal with legal issues, drug addiction, or custody battles. It seems all of the moms and/or dads have dealt with one of the issues at some time or another.

Maci Bookout and her ex-boyfriend, Ryan Edwards, have often fought over time with their son Bentley, with Maci complaining that Ryan isn’t a hands-on father.

Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry and her ex-boyfriend, Jo Rivera, have battled over custody, moving Isaac out of the state, and child support, while her co-star Chelsea Houska has most famously battled with her ex, Adam Lind, about custody.

Chelsea Houska and Adam Lind have always had a volatile relationship, and Adam has been in trouble with the law numerous times. Adam has taken Chelsea to court a few times, but has yet to be granted more custody of their daughter Aubree by a judge because of his past.

Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans has battled it all. Not only has Jenelle battled about time shared with her youngest son, Kaiser, with her ex-fiancé, Nathan Griffith, but she’s known for her arrest record having been arrested over a dozen times for multiple crimes, including a drug related charge after she got addicted to heroin. Leah Messer has also been accused of having a drug problem.

Other Teen Mom star arrests besides Jenelle Evans, Adam Lind, and Amber Portwood include Farrah Abraham for DUI, Gary Shirley for driving with a suspended license, and Jo Rivera for marijuana.

It has been a wild ride for the Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 stars, and it doesn’t seem to be coming to a conclusion any time soon. The new season of Teen Mom OG will begin in early January, 2016, and shows no signs of slowing down.

In the trailer, Farrah Abraham is seen getting into a heated confrontation with a producer, which has allegedly caused controversy with her co-stars. Maci Bookout is still dealing with her ex, Ryan Edwards, Amber is fighting for custody of Leah and planning a wedding to fiancé Matt Baier, and Catelynn Lowell is struggling with postpartum depression after giving birth to second daughter, Nova, and planning her wedding to her long time love.

It’s going to be another great season of Teen Mom OG, and fans can’t wait to see it all go down. What are your thoughts on Amber Portwood’s new custody agreement?
