Donald Trump has a track record of making enemies, but his most recent proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the United States has prompted hacktivist group Anonymous to declare war on him, launching #OpTrump and releasing videos warning Donald to “expect” them.
In the first of the two videos released, a figure in the Guy Fawkes mask that is associated with Anonymous lays out the reasoning behind the group’s decision to target the presidential candidate who is currently leading the field in the Republican race.
“Donald Trump, it has come to our attention that you want to ban all Muslims [from entering] the United States. This policy is going to have a huge impact.”
The figure in the video, his or her voice electronically distorted, goes on to explain that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) actually wants the United States to ban Muslims from entering the country because it makes it easier to recruit. After all, if Muslims are actually being persecuted for their religion by United States policy, then the radical Muslims behind ISIS can make the case that the United States is waging a war against their religion.
“The more the United States appears to be targeting Muslims, not just radical Muslims, you can be sure that ISIS will be putting that on their social media campaign,” the person in the video says.
It is an argument that many people, including politicians, have pointed to, as well.

“Donald Trump, think twice before you speak anything. You have been warned,” the figure adds.
Anonymous claims to have targeted a website for Trump Tower in New York, which was, according to a report from the Hill, inaccessible as of Friday morning. Anonymous said that the take-down was a “statement against racism and hatred.” However, the website now appears to be back up and in working order.

The second video issued by Anonymous in part of their #OpTrump efforts takes issue with another recent statement of Trump’s, in which he announced that he will, if elected to the office of President of the United States, impose the death penalty on anyone who kills a police officer.
“How about police officers who are found guilty of killing innocent citizens?” the figure in the second video asks, his or her voice also distorted and the face, again, hidden behind the Guy Fawkes mask.
The figure in the video also asks Trump to apologize to Mexicans.

Both videos sign off with the signature phrase of the hacktivist group.
“You have been warned, Mr. Donald Trump. We are Anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. Expect us.”
Anonymous has waged many “wars” against other groups. Just last month they released information on alleged Ku Klux Klan members. In addition to that, the group purports to be running an operation against ISIS, claiming thousands of social media accounts allegedly associated with the extremist group.
Despite the outrage caused by Trump’s statements to ban all Muslims from entering the United States, the bombastic entertainer-turned-GOP-candidate stands by them. Recently released polls indicate that his ideas have not made an impact on the level of support Trump receives in the GOP primary. In fact, as fear of terrorism within the United States deepens even further, Trump saw a rise in his polling numbers after his inflammatory statements.
