Georgia Supreme Court says Teachers can Legally have Sex with Students

georgia-google-map

The Supreme Court of Georgia has ruled that teachers can legally have sex with their students as long as those students are 16 or older, which is the minimum age of consent in the state.

“Generally speaking, it is not a crime in Georgia to have physical sexual contact with a willing participant who is 16 years of age or older.”

The ruling came about during an appeal of the conviction in the case of Melissa Lee Chase, a 30 year old teacher who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2007 for the sexual assault of a 16 year old girl at her school.

Now that the ruling has been made, pundits are expecting a flurry of appeals to other such cases in the state where teachers had sex with their students.

This is the correct result. Criminal charges are not the answer here, policing by the teachers' licensing bodies is. Although some states do specifically make it a crime for people in power positions to have sex with teens under 18, even if the general age of consent is 16, I think Texas actually attempted to make it a crime for a teacher to have sex with a student who was OVER 18. Criminal charges in this instance is madness. Just take the license away, like any adult professional organization would if its licensees had sex with clients.

Really? You've got to be kidding me! Alas, the continued 'de-moralization' of our society. So is it then legal to kill the perp that uses their position of authority and trust to violate a child / student? YOUR child perhaps? Is it ok if it's someone elses child.. what about if it was your son or daughter?
Hmm, I guess Georgia will have an influx of teachers now. LOL And in reading the article.. those previously convicted will be looking for a reversal of their conviction! Wow! Smells of sicko whackjob liberal agenda. And yes, 16 is still a 'child'. Last time I looked, 18 was the magic age. Hmm, so maybe 16 year olds have enough maturity then to make other decisions such as voting, drinking and, oh yea, let's put them in the military.
