Kanye West may have a sex tape problem on his hands, but his vast fortune may have taken care of it.
The rapper is reportedly facing the release of a sordid video with an unidentified 18-year-old woman who is said to be a “Kim Kardashian look-alike.” The 20-minute video was reportedly made sometime before Kim and Kanye started dating, but it still represented an embarrassing prospect for both as they neared the birth of their second child.
So Kanye West reportedly dipped into his $130 million net worth to make the sex tape go away. Radar Online reported that Kanye turned to a “fixer” who helped purchase the tape to ensure it wouldn’t see the light of day.
“A Hollywood businessman who brokered other sex tapes with celebrities successfully negotiated the deal,” a source told Radar. “Kanye was very relieved! It would have been a disaster had it ever been released.”
While it’s not clear how much money Kanye West paid to make the sex tape go away, it was likely a large sum. An insider claimed that the video was being shopped around and had “a lot of interest,” but that Kanye was determined to do whatever it took to keep it private.
To make matters worse, the release of the sex tape would have come just as Kim and Kanye welcomed their second child, a boy born this weekend.

Kanye is not the only member of the Kardashain extended family to be threatened with the release of a sex tape. Kim’s younger sister Kylie Jenner has reportedly made a number of explicit videos with her boyfriend, rapper Tyga.
But unlike Kanye, who seems almost blackmailed into paying off whoever was in possession of his sex tape, Kylie and Tyga were reportedly in control of their own videos. There were even reports that the couple was planning on releasing a sex tape themselves. OK! magazine reported that Kylie saw her video as a chance to copy her sister Kim’s rise to fame.
“The insider revealed that the head of Vivid Entertainment Steve Hirsch, who released Kim’s 2006 sex tape with Ray J, offered the 18-year-old $10 million for a sex tape with Tyga.”
The report added that Kylie’s mother, Kris Jenner, was supportive of the decision and was even giving her youngest daughter some business advice.
Kylie wasn’t the only one negotiating. Hollywood Life noted that Tyga was taking part in the negotiations himself and saw the sex tape as a chance to make a huge payday.
“Tyga enjoys making love to Kylie now that she’s 18. That’s his girl and she’s everything to him. He understands that the industry wants to see them get down and dirty in one big explosive sex tape. He’s down to do that, but he wants more than $10 million… For Tyga to do this, he’s looking for some serious meal tickets and knows he and Kylie can command way more than $10 million. He thinks that offer should be doubled for how he’s willing to get down on film.”
It’s not clear how much truth there was to the story. The Kardashian/Jenner clan is a popular target for tabloids, with many of the reports based on flimsy sources or sometimes fabricated entirely.
The rumor about Kanye West having a sex tape does not appear verified either. The stories all relied on unnamed sources, and Kanye quite obviously has never spoken publicly on the matter.
If Kanye West did have a sex tape, it would not be the first time a rapper has been stung. In the last few months there were rumors that Lil Wayne was featured in an explicit video with two women that was threatened to be released. Then, just a few weeks later, a video actually did hit the internet that appeared to show Wayne in exactly the situation described in the rumors.
