Ed Sheeran Signs Second Artist To Personal Recording Label

Ed Sheeran not only has bucket loads of his own talent, he also knows how to spot it. Sheeran has signed his long-time friend and very talented musician, Foy Vance, to his record label. RTE reports that Sheeran and Vance have worked together before. Vance has toured with Sheeran as a supporting musician and they have collaborated in the past, but now Vance has his own record deal. Sheeran released a statement announcing the signing.

“I am very happy to reveal Foy Vance as my second signing to Gingerbread Man Records. Foy’s always been an artist I’ve admired since meeting him in 2006. We’ve become touring buddies over the past few years and he’s actually out in Australia with me at the moment on the final leg of my “x” tour. His vocals are going to blow you away and I can’t wait for you all to hear the record.”

If anyone knows anything about vocals, it’s Ed Sheeran. So, when he says someone is good, it’s time to sit up and listen. Sheeran tweeted the news loud and clear.

Here is a taste of Vance in his element.

The Independent reports that Vance, who won the Northern Ireland Music Prize last year for his album, Joy of Nothing, has nothing but good things to say about Ed Sheeran and is happy to be signed to his label.

“I feel a deep sense of peace signing to an artist led label, not least of all because the artist in question is our Ed. Every time I’ve turned around in the last few years he has had my back.”

Ed Sheeran is currently in Australia (and Vance is with him). Billboard reports that he kicked off his tour in Brisbane to a sold out show on Saturday night. Of course, that wasn’t the first thing the star did when he touched down in the Land Down Under. Hello! reports he went to visit his friend, Elliot John Gleave, also known as Example, and got a chance to hold Example’s new baby. Ed Sheeran took the opportunity to post a pic of himself holding the baby, Evander.

Evander apparently had fun being held by “Uncle Ed” and playing with his glasses and necklace.

When he’s not wooing the crowds with his sweet voice, what is Ed Sheeran up to? He has had a bit of an acting bug as of late, appearing in The Bastard Executioner and doing a cameo on Australian TV show Home and Away. But now he is set to act in one of the most anticipated comedy movies of 2016. Hello! reports that Sheeran will be in Bridget Jones’s Baby, starring Renée Zellweger. In fact, he even posted a selfie of himself and the famous actress.

Ed Sheeran has grown in fame over the past few years, yet he is still humbled by it. According to Billboard, at his recent Brisbane concert, he showed his appreciate to the crowd.

“I never imagined I’d be standing on a stage in a stadium in my own country, let alone this one.”

It’s pretty much guaranteed Ed Sheeran could play in any stadium and on any stage he wishes from now on. He can hold an audience at will simply with his voice and an acoustic guitar, which is a rare and special talent. It’s probably soon time for a break, to spend the holidays with family and friends, but who knows what Ed Sheeran has in store for the new year.
