Mayim Bialik Shares Pic Taken With Jennifer Aniston In The Early 1990s

Actress Mayim Bialik apparently went way back in time for Throwback Thursday — and she brought Jennifer Aniston along for the ride.

The Big Bang Theory actress shared an old photo that was taken of herself and Jennifer hugging long before the first episode of Blossom or Friends.

Bialik shared a little bit about their past together in the brief caption posted with her Facebook photo Thursday.

“Yes this is me and Jennifer Aniston in my childhood bedroom. We did a show together before I did ‘Blossom.’ ?#?tbt?!!!”

When did Mayim Bialik and Jennifer Aniston star on the small-screen together?

As mentioned in the caption, it was before Mayim Bialik rose to stardom with her leading role in the hit NBC sitcom, Blossom, in 1991. Therefore, it would have also been before Jennifer Aniston became internationally known as Rachel on the hit NBC sitcom, Friends, in 1994.

Before they experienced fame and fortune with their memorable roles in those sitcoms, Mayim Bialik and Jennifer Aniston starred together in the short-lived FOX sitcom, Molloy, back in 1990.

Mayim starred as Molloy Martin, an 11-year-old girl forced to move from New York to Los Angeles to live with her remarried father after her mother’s sudden death. Jennifer Aniston played Courtney, a self-absorbed teenage girl and one of Molloy’s two step-siblings.

Molloy only lasted for seven episodes before it was cancelled — an ending which allowed Mayim Bialik to begin working on the NBC series Blossom once again as the titular role.

Blossom aired for 5 five seasons and 114 episodes between 1991 and 1995 — boosting co-stars Mayim Bialik, Joey Lawrence, and Jenna von Oy into the limelight.

During an interview with Today.com back in August, Mayim Bialik reflected on the series — which was celebrating the 25th anniversary of its big debut.

The 39-year-old mother of two explained exactly why Blossom was such a groundbreaking series during the early 90s.

“We see so many females on TV now, and young women are a much bigger part of our culture, but at the time we really had to fight hard to even produce a show about a girl. I think it’s important for people to realize that while we weren’t curing cancer and we weren’t doing Shakespeare, that was very groundbreaking at the time to have a show that was about a girl, simply because we were told, ‘People won’t watch a show about a girl.’… Culturally, it was kind of special for that reason.”

The cancellation of Molloy later presented Jennifer Aniston with a golden opportunity presented by NBC as well when she was chosen to star in the pilot episode of Friends in 1994.

For 10 seasons and over 230 episodes, Jennifer played Rachel Green — a formerly spoiled daughter that eventually turned into a hard-working mother and the love of Ross Geller’s life.

When it comes to the box-office, Jennifer Aniston rose high above her fellow co-stars when she transitioned her small-screen role into a successful big-screen acting career.

However, Friends still helped to make international stars out of actors Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow.

More than a decade after its series finale first aired, the series is still being enjoyed by millions of people thanks to syndicated reruns.

Even though she is no longer the leading lady on a TV sitcom, Mayim Bialik keeps fans and critics laughing as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler — the leading lady (of sorts) in Sheldon’s life on the hit CBS series The Big Bang Theory. Perhaps she may be able to convince Jennifer Aniston to make an appearance to have a semi-Molloy reunion on a future episode.
