The man responsible for the shooting that took place at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, will stand before a judge on Monday to face charges from the attack.

Robert Lewis Dear is being held at the El Paso Criminal Justice Center without bond after being accused of the shooting that took place on Friday, though he has not been charged yet, according to USA Today.

At 11:30 a.m. MT on Friday, the shooter entered the Planned Parenthood clinic and began shooting at anyone in sight for over five hours, as reported by CNN. The shooting went on until a SWAT team crashed armored vehicles through the lobby of the Planned Parenthood facility.

Three people were killed and nine people were injured as a result of the shooting. A police officer, an Iraq war veteran, and a mom lost their lives after the shooter attacked the Colorado clinic.

A law enforcement official who spoke to CNN indicated that propane tanks were found near Dear’s car at the scene of the shooting, and Colorado authorities believe that Dear may have been trying to shoot the tanks to cause an explosion.

The motives of the Planned Parenthood shooter were not immediately clear, however, it was reported that Dear rambled to Colorado officials about “no more baby parts.” The mayor of Colorado Springs made a statement that “people can draw their own conclusions about Dear’s motivation.”

“You can certainly infer what (the motive) may have been in terms of where it took place and the manner in which it took place.”

The official who had spoken to CNN also said that though the shooter had told Colorado officials that he had anti-abortion and anti-government views, that doesn’t necessarily mean that those views were what had motivated Dear to attack the Planned Parenthood clinic.

Vicki Cowart, president of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, had no doubt about Dear’s motivation for shooting up the Colorado clinic. She said that he “was motivated by opposition to safe and legal abortion.”

The family of the officer who lost his life on Friday, identified as Garret Swasey, released a statement asking for privacy and prayers.

“While the nation now knows Garrett as a hero who gave his life for others, he was also a devoted husband of 17 years and a wonderful father to his two children. Helping others brought him deep satisfaction and being a police officer was a part of him. In the end his last act was for the safety and well-being of others and was a tribute to his life.”

Swasey rushed to the Planned Parenthood clinic while the shooting was taking place. UCCS Police Chief Brian McPike talked about Swasey’s enthusiasm, confirming what his family had said about his commitment to his job.

“There was no way any of us could have kept him here. He was always willing to go…. He had an enthusiasm that was hard to quell.”

Two more people, both parents as well, were shot and killed in the attack in Colorado. Army veteran Ke’Arre Stewart was 29-years-old, and the father of two young girls. A friend of Stewart, Amburh Butler, said that he had been stationed in Colorado Springs in 2013, and was later discharged.

“He was a stand-up guy. If you were hungry, he fed you. If you were cold and needed a ride, he was just there. He was a good friend and an amazing listener.”

Jennifer Markovsky was 36-years-old, and she was also the mother of two. Her father said that she was a “kindhearted, lovable person.”

The Planned Parenthood shooter will appear in front of a Colorado judge on Monday at 1:30 p.m. to answer for the deaths of these innocent people.
