Adele Has A Fan In Drake: ‘I’d Literally Go To Adele’s House Right Now And Do Laundry For Her’

Adele is too “fat” to make it in America? Who would have the audacity to say such a thing? According to The Daily Beast, that is just what critic Bob Lefsetz wrote in a blog in February, 2008.

“Although she’s a smash in the U.K., I seriously doubt she can make it big here in America. Because she’s FAT!”

He essentially went on to say a celebrity can be anything but “fat.”

“You can be a drug addict. You can be stupid. But don’t be FAT! In America it’s all about appearances. Fat girls don’t get a chance. Hell, the girl on ‘Ugly Betty’ isn’t even ugly!”

Well, fast-forward seven years and it appears that Adele has proven him dead wrong. She just released her third album with incredible success, recently performed at Radio City Music Hall, and has two platinum records and seven Top 40 hits.

In fact, according to The Guardian, Adele’s new album, 25, broke the U.K. record for sales in the first week after its release, having sold a whopping 800,307 copies. Official Charts Company chief executive explains.

“No album has ever sold 800,000 copies to reach No 1 in the history of British music.”

The album is also the first to sell over 100,000 digital albums in its first week, with sales at 253,423 digital copies.

CBC reports that Adele admitted the difficulty she had recording 25, largely due to her new role as a mother.

“I wanted to go in with lyrics, but I didn’t have time at home. I don’t work at home at all. I don’t even play guitar at home, because I was frightened I’d wake the baby up.”

Perhaps going in “unprepared” is the secret to the fabulous new album? Apparently there are plenty of people willing to work with the ever popular Adele, including rapper Drake. Entertainment Weekly reports that Drake would do anything for Adele, including her laundry.

“I’d do anything with Adele. I’d literally go to Adele’s house right now and do laundry for her.”

Drake is saying all of this in response to comments made by Adele recently that she would like to do a remix of “Hotline Bling.”

“I had a drink like three weeks ago [with] my best friends, in fact it was to celebrate ‘Hello.’ And I was off my face because I don’t really drink anymore, and they’ve got video of me dancing to [‘Hotline Bling’] on a coffee table as well.”

Adele also remarked on how much she loves Drake.

“I really want us to do an official remix. I love Drake. I love Drake so much.”

As for her own success, she was tickled when “Hello” beat out Taylor Swift for most Vevo streams in a day.

“I love Taylor Swift, and when I found out I was like that’s pretty epic. Not beating her but just being on the same level as her was fantastic, because I think she’s wonderful.”

It’s not only Adele who is famous. Her bodyguard, Peter Van der Veen, has become quite a new sensation on the Internet. He has been seen everywhere with Adele since 25 was released and his presence did not escape the notice of her fans.

Once a body builder and Mr. Europe Champion in 2005, Adele’s new security man has also worked as Lady Gaga’s body guard and for Iggy Azalea. However, it’s not likely that Peter’s fame will overshadow that of his new boss. Adele is soaring right now, riding on the release of her new album and her incredible talent. Eat your words, Bob Lefsetz!
