Rihanna ‘Anti’ Update: Singer Teases Album With Another Video

Rihanna’s fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of her elusive R8 album, which is named Anti. It’s been three years since the singer has released an album. Her last album, UnApologetic, was released in November 2013.

Rumors circulated on the internet that Rihanna was expected to release her new album via Tidal on Black Friday. The rest of the world would have to wait until Dec. 4 to get their hands on it. Well, Rihanna’s new album isn’t out yet. But you can still get tickets for her upcoming world tour. The “BBHMM” singer took to Twitter earlier this week to announce her very small global tour, which includes most of the U.S. and Europe.

Rihanna’s recently announced Anti World Tour has been confirmed for 2016, as tickets go on sale on Dec. 3.

Instead of releasing a new album on Black Friday, Rihanna shared a new mysterious video that shows her in the recording studio. The singer included the tweet, “There’s more than meets the eye. The next #ANTIdiaRY room is now open.” Only those with Samsung phones can access the website. The promo videos for Rihanna’s new album are rather creepy. Most of them show the singer either posing or walking through an empty room with voices or music in the background.

The latest promo video shows Rihanna walking in a dark room with neon lighting. She kind of resembles a scared little girl in the video. As you can see below, Rih is even wearing an innocent white dress with white platform sneakers and a black velvet choker. She then sits at what looks like a recording studio. Rihanna feels the controls as she tries to find the right beat for the music. After the lights blink a few times, a group of men in masks appear from behind her.

This video is just the latest in a long string of promos between Rihanna, Samsung, and theater company Punchdrunk, which all have been teasing the release of her highly anticipated album. Unfortunately, the promo videos don’t include any important details like the album’s full track list and the release date. Fans have no idea of when to expect the finalized album at this point. So far, Rihanna has only released three singles: “FourFiveSeconds,” “American Oxygen,” and “B***h Better Have My Money.”

According to Mirror Celeb, Rihanna doesn’t want to release the album until she’s completely happy with it.

“Rihanna is a complete perfectionist and she wants to make sure this album is worth the wait for all of her fans. This will be her first album in three years, so she wants to make sure it hits the right note.”

The speculation of Rihanna’s album increased when music reviewer Chris Riotta accidentally published a fill-in-the-blanks review on Mic.com (via Yahoo). It included a mix of generic terms and notations like “[INSERT HERE]” for specific details like song titles. The article has since been taking down, but there are already screenshots circulating across Twitter.

As for the writer, he has a good humor about the incident. Riotta took to his own Twitter account to explain what happened.

But all the buzz for Rihanna’s eighth studio album could translate into lower streaming numbers, according to a report via Billboard. Number in previous months showed that Tidal exclusives have smaller numbers compared to its competitors like Spotify and YouTube. Even Apple Music produces big numbers when it gets exclusive content from artists like Drake.

“The biggest is that both Spotify and YouTube have free tiers, while Apple Music (after its three-month trial period ended) and Tidal do not. The other is scale: Spotify claims 75 million active users around the world (and 20 million subscribers), while YouTube’s monthly users are over a billion. In contrast, Tidal announced at the end of September that they’d surpassed one million subscribers, while Apple Music leveled out at 6.5 million in October after its free trial period netted them an initial 11 million.”
