‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Steven Yeun Talks Glenn’s Fate — Will Negan And Lucille Hit The ‘TWD’ Finale? [Video]

Anyone reading The Walking Dead spoilers knows that Glenn is alive, but the question remains if his doom still lies around the corner. After all, the events of the TV show are quickly catching up with the comic books, so Negan, Lucille, and the Saviors should be swinging toward Glenn’s head like a wrecking ball. Steven Yeun was invited to The Talking Dead to discuss Glenn’s fate, but it is still anyone’s guess how the show runners will handle The Walking Dead’s finale for the mid-season.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, it’s also possible the TV show may diverge from the comics and Ron will put Carl Grimes’ life in danger during the The Walking Dead finale.

Fans were overjoyed when their favorite pizza boy did his comeback tour. In case you want to see the dumpster diving scene again, AMC has been nice enough to provide this video clip.

Steven Yeun was also pretty happy to still have an acting job, and he expressed his thanks to fans during the commercial break.

The Walking Dead has the best fans in the world and I’m happy to be back,” Yeun said. “I’ve been following everything you’ve been saying and it’s meant so much to me to see all of your support and concern for Glenn.”

Joining in with Yeun on The Talking Dead podcast, Gale Anne Hurd, and Scott Gimple all discussed Glenn’s miraculous survival and what’s ahead in next week’s mid-season finale. Gimple also explained why they went out of their way to make fans think Glenn might really be dead.

“It was important to do a story this year about uncertainty, and that the audience would share that uncertainty that the characters had,” he explained. “Maggie didn’t know what happened to Glenn, and I wanted the audience to feel the exact same way.”

Yeun also said he was relieved just to be able to talk publicly.

“I feel relieved. I feel very grateful. I feel so amazed at the response,” Yeun said. “I feel bad that I couldn’t say anything to everyone; family and friends. I’m pretty sure I lost some friends along the way. It’s kind of been overwhelming.”

Hurd even joked that they asked the TWD cast if they talked in their sleep, and if the answer was yes they were offered duct tape to prevent their mouths from unconsciously leaking out any The Walking Dead spoilers.

In the recent episode, Glenn spent a lot of time working with Enid, which also puts the TV show on an uncertain track since Enid does not exist in the comics. Discussing these scenes, Yeun revealed some of Glenn’s motivations.

“The looming idea of fatherhood has definitely changed him, especially in the way he processes how much he wants to maintain his humanity. He’s searching for a place to pass on to his son or daughter,” he said. “Last season, you saw a resolve in Glenn in really accepting what Alexandria was and could be for them.”

Fans have speculated that Enid may be a Wolf in survivor’s clothing, but no one would confirm or deny this rumor. Hurd did tease the fans by saying, “If you’ve read the comic book, there are some female characters who you’re not sure what side they’re on.”

The Walking Dead Finale: Negan Fated To Kill Glenn?

Ever since Glenn’s “death” scene near the dumpster, TWD fans knew something was up, especially if they have read the comics. If the TV series had, in fact, killed Glenn off, then a major scene involving a villain would need to be changed or scrapped entirely. Glenn’s future death also requires that Jesus’ arrival happen beforehand.

No, we’re not talking about Jesus Christ’s second coming, we’re talking about Paul “Jesus” Monroe. Based upon the story told in the comic book version, Jesus first arrives in order to connect Alexandria with other communities like Hilltop, but this connection also sets up a confrontation with a major Walking Dead villain named Negan.

This villain leads a group of survivors called the Saviors, who subjugate other communities in the Washington D.C. area and steals their women to make them Negan’s brides. When series creator Robert Kirkman introduced Negan in the comics, the villain infamously kills Glenn with Lucille — a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire.

It is possible these questions will not have any answers until 2016 arrives with the second half of The Walking Dead season 6. Based upon the story progression so far, it is very likely that Negan won’t show up directly in TWD episode 8, but there may be some foreshadowing. A leaked TWD video shows Negan taking a swing with his infamous bat at someone, but fans are speculating that it might not be Glenn.

We do know that the showrunners have been hinting that all the major characters are at risk. Earlier in 2015, death threats were lobbed in the direction of Norman Reedus’ character, and even Rick Grimes is supposedly not bullet proof.

“It’s a very big season… We’re dropping everyone in the deep end of the pool,” Scott Gimple said. “Things can get worse — in different ways. There will be some very unique turns to this story coming up… It’s a scary thing but this is a scary show.”

Do you think The Walking Dead TV show should allow Glenn to live on despite the story told by the comics? While you’re pondering that question, check out this trailer for The Walking Dead season 6, episode 8.
