Elderly Woman Attacked by Pitbull while Taking a Shower
An elderly florida woman was taking a shower at a neigbor’s home when she was attacked by a pitbull.
Joan Brown Benitez was at her neighbor’s home in Howey-in-the-Hills Florida taking a shower when several dogs came into the home through a doggie door. One of the dogs, an 18 month old pit bull named Marley, attacked her.
73 year old Benitez was then rushed to a nearby Lake County hospital and treated for numerous cuts and punctures on her arms and legs.
The dog was turned over to animal services and will be put down after a 10-day quarantine if the owner does not pick it up. Another pit bull at the home also was turned over to animal services.
James Rhew, the dog’s owner told police that the pitbull probably attacked Benitez because he believed her to be an intruder since he was not used to seeing her in the home.
No info as to why the woman was taking a shower at the neighbor’s home, or why she neglected to close the bathroom door first.
