Xbox LIVE Black Friday Sales Begin With Deals For Xbox One And 360 Digital Titles

Microsoft kicked off a digital Black Friday sale on November 20 for Xbox One and Xbox 360 games that will run through the end of the month. Xbox LIVE Gold members get the first crack at the deals and the biggest savings with titles like Grand Theft Auto V, Dark Souls II, and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection receiving hefty discounts. Xbox One owners also have backwards compatible games to consider now.

Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers will have exclusive access to the deals through November 23 and will receive an additional 10 percent off deals that already offer 40 to 60 percent off. Non-Gold subscribers will receive discounts after that and are, of course, encouraged to upgrade with the opportunity to upgrade by paying only $1 for the first month of membership through an offer on the Xbox consoles. Regular rates will apply after the first month, but it isn’t hard to find a year of Xbox LIVE Gold on sale for $30 to $35.

The deals listed below are the regular deals that will be available during the entire run of Black Friday. However, additional deals will be added on November 27. The titles teased as going on sale with “huge savings” include The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, Rare Replay, and Destiny: The Taken King.

Xbox One Digital Game Deals

The more interesting offers for the Xbox One include Dark Souls II and Grand Theft Auto V. Fans of Borderlands and/or Telltale-style adventure games shouldn’t overlook Tales from the Borderlands. That episodic series recently wrapped up and is available for only $10 by itself or as part of the $36 Telltale Bundle that includes every series from The Walking Dead to Game of Thrones.

Car lovers have their choice between Forza Horizon 2, Forza Motorsport 6, Project Cars, and Need for Speed. That last one just released a couple of weeks ago and is already discounted to $36.

Xbox One DLC Deals

Middle Earth: Shadow of Morder (Xbox One)

The DLC deals for the Xbox One aren’t going to light any fires as Forza Horizon 2 and Middle Earth discounts are only worthwhile for those who have already purchased the games. Better deals are had from purchasing the bundle deals above.

Xbox 360 Digital Game Deals

BioShock (Xbox 360)

The Xbox 360 deals are a little more exciting now that the Xbox One is backwards compatible. Titles like Assassin’s Creed II and Castle Crashers still hold up well. Additionally, a planned December update will bring all three BioShock titles that are on sale cheap below into the fold. The original game in particular is a definite classic.

There are some non-backwards compatible mainstays below, such as the Batman Arkham series, Fallout: New Vegas, and Red Dead Redemption. There’s no indication that these will be upgraded yet, but it’s worth keeping an eye out on and the deals are still solid for Xbox 360 owners.

Xbox 360 DLC

Again, the DLC offerings for the Xbox 360 don’t excite. The Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare add-ons are perhaps the most interesting of the bunch.
