It’s Summer time and that can only mean one thing: Bacon sundaes. Burger King revealed its Summer menu today which includes items like the aforementioned sundae, a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and frozen lemonade.
This is the second time this year that Burger King has revamped its menu. In April, the restaurant chain unveiled a “healthier” menu that included snack wraps and salads.
Steve Wiborg, president of Burger King’s North America operations, said:
“Consumers wanted more choices. Not just healthy choices, but choices they could get at the competition.”
Health, however, wasn’t exactly on their minds when they created the bacon sundae. The salty and sweet treat will run you 510 calories, 18 grams of fat and 61 grams of sugar, according to the International Business Times.
The sundae, along with the Memphis Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich, the Carolina BBQ Whopper or Chicken Sandwich, the Texas BBQ Whopper or Chicken Sandwich, Sweet potato fries, and frozen lemonade, will be available until September 3rd, or while supplies last.
Burger King isn’t the only fast food chain toying with its menu. Taco Bell just unveiled a few new changes as well. Taco Bell recently unveiled its Cantina Bell Menu, a healthier “upscale” menu that the restaurant hopes will compete with chains like Chipotle.
What do you think of Burger King’s bacon sundae? Apparently, BK isn’t the first restaurant chain to try out this desert. Denny’s also recently unveiled it’s own bacon infused desert. Here’s a video from the Colbert Report. [The bacon sundae part starts around the three-minute mark.]
