Denise Richards and Richie Sambora Split over Charlie Sheen (Report)

Longtime on-again/off-again celebrity couple Denise Richards and Richie Sambora have called it quits, maybe for good this time, following what was described by witnesses as an “epic” fight in Nashville.

Celebuzz originally reported on the story, saying that the couple had a nasty verbal altercation right before the 52-year-old Bon Jovi guitarist was supposed to present at the CMT awards last week. “Denise was invited to Nashville to introduce a band at the CMT Awards,” a CMT insider told HuffPo. “She decided to take Richie with her and once they knew he was coming, they asked him to give an award to Willie Nelson. But after an epic battle between the two of them, Richie left both Denise and Willie hanging.”

The fight took place at the Hermitage Hotel, reports E!, whose source said that “everyone heard it.” An NYPost source said that one could hear “Sambora screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs.” The fight was reportedly over Richards’ ex-husband, Charlie Sheen. Sambora doesn’t approve of her close friendship with him and wanted her to break off all contact with him. Richards apparently refused, resulting in the huge blowup.

The couple most recently reunited in early May, with Sambora confirming, “We’re back on. It’s all good.”

This time it seems they will stay an “off-again” couple. One source opined that the break-up had less to do with Sheen and more to do with Sambora’s unpredictable behavior. “Denise is a cool lady who doesn’t care what you do as long as you treat people and yourself with respect,” the source said. “She has been through too much with other guys she has dated to go down that path again — no matter how painful saying goodbye is. This breakup had nothing to do with Denise or her ex, Charlie [Sheen]. This was all because of Richie’s behavior and although she will never speak about it publicly, she hopes he finds happiness.”
