Dallas Cowbys Rumors: Dez Bryant’s Return Set, But Joseph Randle Could Be Gone A While

The Dallas Cowboys are truly hoping to end their four-game losing streak this weekend when they face off with the Seattle Seahawks. They could end up getting some big help, as wide receiver Dez Bryant’s return from injury seems to be set in stone, but with the good comes the bad. Running back Joseph Randle has been made inactive for Sunday, as he’s facing possible suspension by both the team and the NFL.

After practicing some last week and originally being thought to return against the New York Giants, Bryant was ruled out on Saturday. His broken foot wasn’t yet at a point where he could play in a game, but a lot has changed in a week.

According to NFL.com, the Cowboys are optimistic that he’ll be playing on Sunday against the Seahawks. The Pro Bowl receiver has been limited in practice all week, but barring some huge setback on Friday, Bryant “should be” ready to go for the first time since Week 1.

On Wednesday, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones gave an update on Bryant’s status and progress.

“It’s premature to say he’ll play Sunday, but he’s on target to play this weekend if this continues.”

Since then, Bryan has had what he called a “great day of practice” and has looked good on the field. Something huge and totally unexpected would have to happen on Friday to keep him off the field against the Seahawks, and the Cowboys hope that doesn’t happen.

Dez Bryant returning from injury and being back on the field for the Cowboys would be big for them, and they need it. Not only are they in the middle of a four-game losing streak, but now their starting running back, Joseph Randle, is going to miss some time with an injury and also possible suspension.

The Dallas Cowboys have already been concerned with Randle and his actions off the field as well as on it. ESPN reported that he could indeed be facing discipline, including suspension, from the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

NFL investigators met with Randle this summer and this past week about his violations, and the best case scenario would bring a fine. However, it’s more likely that he will be suspended, and it could be for multiple games.

In February, Joseph Randle was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana. This happened after police got a call about domestic violence with a weapon in an incident with Randle and the mother of his son.

The mother of Randle’s son, per the police report, said the Cowboys running back broke a car window in an argument and threatened her with a gun while their son was nearby. Charges were dropped in April, but the NFL is still looking into things.

Randle’s arrest was the second time in four months. He was also arrested in October of 2014 for shoplifting at a Texas mall. He got six months probation for that incident.

Last week against the New York Giants, Joseph Randle suffered a back strain that staffers believed could keep him out for a few weeks. The suspension could make his time away from the team even longer. Darren McFadden has been elevated to starter, while Christine Michael and Rod Smith are back-ups.

The Dallas Cowboys are having more troubles than any team really knows what to do with, and Joseph Randle is only the latest of them. Quarterback Tony Romo is still at least a month away from returning from injury, but hopefully for them, Dez Bryant will return and be on the field this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
