Elton John Announces New Album ‘Wonderful Crazy Night’ Out In February

Elton John – the iconic singer behind hit songs like “Candle in the Wind,” “Daniel,” and “Tiny Dancer” – is set to release new studio album, Wonderful Crazy Night, on February 5, Rolling Stone reports.

John’s publicists announced Thursday that Wonderful Crazy Night will be released under Island Records. Elton Johns’s new album was recorded at the Village Studio in Los Angeles, according to reports. The album can now be pre-ordered on iTunes. Those who pre-ordered can also get a free download of the album’s first single “Looking Up.”

Billboard reports that Elton John co-produced Wonderful Crazy Night with long-time collaborator T Bone Burnett, who worked with John on the highly-acclaimed 2013 release The Diving Board. Bernie Taupin, who has collaborated with Elton John for five decades, provided the lyrics for the entire album.

On top of working with T Bone Burnett and Bernie Taupin again, Wonderful Crazy Night finds Elton John reuniting with former band members after nearly a decade – drummer Nigel Olsson and guitarist Davey Johnstone. Nigel started working with John in the late sixties while Davey started with the band in the early seventies. The last time John, Olsson, and Johnstone played together was for the 2006 album The Captain & The Kid.

The other band members playing with Elton John are percussionist Ray Cooper, bassist Matt Bissonette, keyboardist Kim Bullard and percussionist John Mahon.

Wonderful Crazy Night will be available as a 10-track standard edition and as a deluxe version containing two additional songs, “Free Easy” and “England and America.” A super deluxe 2CD/LP edition housing four bonus tracks and a 20-page book with photographs and lyrics is available for purchase at the Elton John official store.

Elton John, 68, is one of the world’s most successful musicians, having a net worth amounting to a staggering $475 million. John’s net worth ranks 4th in the List of World’s Richest Singers behind Jimmy Buffett ($400 million), Bono ($600 million), and Paul McCartney ($800 million).

The Tiny Dancer singer might just have a fair shot at cracking the third or possibly the second spot in the World’s Richest Singers ranking, as he has just announced a three-date UK tour in 2016, according to The List. The tour launches on June 10 at the Lincoln Showground and will proceed to Leicester Cricket Club before being concluded in Devon at the Westpoint Exeter.

While Elton expressed his love for being on tour, he said that nothing makes him happier than family.

The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family, and I am only too aware of just how precious the time ahead is.

My sons are growing up so quickly; their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them. So these concerts will give me the chance to thank the British audiences who have been so faithful to me over these many decades. We cannot get to everyone, but I am going to try.

Aside from being a successful singer, Elton John is a strong advocate of gay rights. He was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998 for his legacy as a musician and for his contributions in the fight against AIDS.
