‘Celebrity Wife Swap’ Cancelled: No More Swapping Of Celebrity Wives And Husbands
Celebrity Wife Swap has been a TV series for several years now, debuting on TV back in 2012. Some famous folks who’ve appeared on the show include Kendra Wilkinson and Kate Gosselin, women who appeared on Celebrity Wife Swap on the first episode of Season 2 — prior to Kendra going through all the drama with her husband, Hank Baskett. During that episode, Kate asked if Hank had a brother because Baskett appeared to dote on Kendra as if their marriage was perfect.
Well, the Celebrity Wife Swap party is over, reports TMZ, with the publication reporting that the series has been cancelled. After being on the air for four seasons and featuring a long list of B-list celebrities who weren’t always “wives” and “husbands,” Celebrity Wife Swap has gotten the boot. However, ABC isn’t confirming cancellation of the show just yet.
Nevertheless, TMZ reports that Celebrity Wife Swap is indeed being cancelled, and the site claims Zodiak Media’s big wigs have begun to reach out via email about their show’s cancellation. Celebrity Wife Swap’s producers are saying the show is a done deal. Some of the most popular Celebrity Wife Swap episodes can be seen via YouTube, based on their soaring view counts.
Those includes ones like when Celebrity Wife Swap featured Coolio and Mark McGrath swapping places, and the reality TV show unveiled the fact that Coolio is one difficult rapper to live with. Other stars have appeared on the British version of Celebrity Wife Swap, such as the Beckhams and the Osbournes. The Celebrity Wife Swap video where David and Victoria Beckham swapped with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne has gained more than 500,000 views since it was uploaded to YouTube seven years ago.
Famous celebrities like Verne Troyer, Tami Roman, Gary Busey, Corey Feldman, and Andy Dick have also appeared on Celebrity Wife Swap, as the show gave famous folks a chance to expose a bit of their lifestyles and to keep their names and faces in the public eye.
Celebrity Wife Swap was a spin-off from its predecessor, Wife Swap, which first appeared on the ABC network back in 2004. Wife Swap caught on with viewers as people from extremely different backgrounds and societies usually swapped with folks that were their polar opposites. A busy career mom might swap with a full-time mother, whereas a wife with a ritzy and glamorous lifestyle might switch with a rustic woman who lived on a farm and got her hands dirty quite a bit.
“In each episode, two mothers with very different types of households swap lifestyles and children in a week-long challenge. In the first part of the swap, each mom moves into the other’s home and adopts their new celebrity family’s lifestyle, no matter how different it may be. They agree to follow a manual written by the departing mother that sets out the rules of their new household – how they parent, manage their social life, do house work, unwind and more. When Celebrity Wife Swap debuted, it was an interesting spin on an old favorite. It gave folks a peek into the lives of the famous and their relationship dynamics. Now that Celebrity Wife Swap is on the chopping block, apparently that new spin is old hat.
