Ed Sheeran: Music’s Nicest Guy Surprises James Bay Fans [Video]

Ed Sheeran is not just one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, Sheeran is also renowned as one of the music business’s nicest guys. In a business that is all too often cut-throat, Sheeran stands out as a shining light for the numerous gestures of kindness he makes. It sometimes seems that Sheeran is in the press on a daily basis for the latest nice thing that he has done. Once again, Ed has stepped up to the mark to support a friend who is making his way in the business.

In recent months, it has been reported by the Inquisitr that Sheeran “crashed” a wedding in Australia to surprise the happy couple with a rendition of his world-wide hit “Thinking Out Loud.” Sheeran also joined a 14-year-old girl to duet on one of his tunes in a shopping mall. On several occasions, Sheeran has given up his free time to travel to shows to help friends propose to their girlfriends. It seems that Sheeran has no limits when it comes to helping out a pal.

James Bay Ed Sheeran

Sheeran may have broken world records earlier this year when he became the first solo artist to sell out London’s massive Wembley Stadium three nights in a row, but it seems that Ed has not forgotten his roots. It is estimated that over 250,000 people saw Sheeran play at Wembley back in July, but that didn’t stop him popping to the 1,700 capacity Cambridge Corn Exchange over the weekend to join his pal James Bay on stage. To the astonishment of Bay’s fans, Sheeran joined James onstage to perform “Let It Go,” which was Bay’s 2014 breakthrough single.

Bay’s fans couldn’t quite believe their luck when James introduced Sheeran, and James was quick to praise his pal for joining him onstage. Capital FM report that Bay had nothing but kinds words to say about Sheeran’s generosity.

“Ed doesn’t have to turn up and guest on mates’ records or gigs. But he’s a real musician who just really loves to play. What’s awesome for the rest of us is that he’s so generous with that.”

According to Billboard, James met Sheeran at this years Brit Awards, where Bay won the Critics’ Choice award and Sheeran took home the British Album and British Male Solo Artist awards. The two artists have a similar laid back musical vibe, so it probably wasn’t too much of a stretch for Sheeran to play guitar and sing the second verse of bay’s hit song.

After the show, Bay shared a photograph of himself and Sheeran onstage and thanked Ed for joining him. After the show, Neil Jones, a spokesperson for the venue, admitted that he knew Sheeran was to put in an appearance but was sworn to secrecy. Jones said that “the roof came off” when Sheeran took to the stage.

“The gig itself people were loving but when Ed Sheeran came on stage it took things to another level.

“Earlier this year he sold out three nights at Wembley Stadium so having him just rock on stage at the Corn Exchange was fantastic for people who were there and fantastic for the venue.

“I think it will probably come to be one of those gigs that people will say they were there, but most probably weren’t.”

James Bay is tipped to achieve great things. His current tour is a total sell-out, and he has already followed in Sheeran’s footsteps by playing the famous Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. As reported by the Inquisitr earlier this year, Bay’s debut album, Chaos and the Calm, hit the UK No. 1 spot.

If Bay succeeds in forging a career as big as Ed Sheeran’s, he will be the name on everyones lips in the coming years.
