Amber Portwood Announces Wedding Date — When Will ‘Teen Mom’ Wed Matthew Baier?

Amber Portwood and her fiancé, Matthew Baier, have officially set a date for their upcoming wedding. On September 29, OK! Magazine announced Amber Portwood’s exciting news, revealing the Teen Mom OG star has recently revealed news of her upcoming wedding to fans on social media.

“Can’t wait to marry this man in October 2016. Love taking pictures of Leah and Matt together.”

Along with Amber Portwood’s wedding date announcement, she shared a photo of her fiancé, and her 6-year-old daughter, Leah, whose father is Amber Portwood’s ex-boyfriend, Gary Shirley. Amber Portwood also revealed her daughter would serve as the flower girl for her upcoming wedding.

For the last several years, Amber Portwood has been starting on MTV reality shows, including 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom, and Teen Mom OG. During the first series, 16 & Pregnant, Amber Portwood was dating Shirley and expecting her first child. Throughout the additional spinoffs, Amber Portwood’s relationship with Shirley became rocky. In fact, their time together was often plagued by drama, and at one point, fans of Teen Mom watched Amber Portwood attack her now-ex-boyfriend. And as a result, she was placed on probation, which ultimately led to a 5-year prison sentence.

Because Amber Portwood was struggling with an addiction to drugs, she chose to forego her court-ordered drug rehabilitation requirements and instead serve time behind bars. Luckily, however, Amber Portwood was only forced to serve 17 months of her sentence due to good behavior and her involvement in prison programs, including choir and drug education.

After Amber Portwood entered prison, Teen Mom was cancelled. But once she was released, the series was brought back by MTV and renamed Teen Mom OG.

Although fans would certainly love to watch Amber Portwood get married, a TV deal “has never even been discussed,” Radar Online reported earlier this year.

“[Amber Portwood] wants the wedding to be very private. Only her close friends and family will be invited.”

At the time of the report, a source claimed Amber Portwood hadn’t got much planning done, when it came to her and Baier’s wedding.

“Between filming, school and promoting her book, [Amber Portwood] has been extremely busy. She wants to decompress at home in Indiana and really take the time to plan something special. She wants it to be perfect.”

While Amber Portwood still had a lot to do at that point, the source said she would be tying the knot in Indiana, her home state, and her cousin, Krystal, and brother, Shawn, would be involved.

Also in Radar Online‘s report, Amber Portwood was said to have had an on-screen showdown with her ex-boyfriend, Shirley. Since Amber Portwood’s prison release, she has expressed interest in regaining custody of Leah, but unfortunately, Shirley hasn’t been making it easy. Still, Amber Portwood has a lot to be thankful for, and has chosen to focus on the positive things in her life, including her healthy and happy relationship with Baier.

“She’s not angry,” the insider explained of Amber Portwood. “She’s happy in her relationship and isn’t letting those kind of comments get her down.”

As Amber Portwood plans her wedding, her custody agreement with Shirley remains unknown. Meanwhile, he and his new girlfriend, Kristina Anderson, welcomed a child together earlier this year, the second for both Shirley and Anderson, who each have older children from previous relationships.

No word yet on whether or not Amber Portwood and her co-stars, including Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout, and Farrah Abraham, will return for a new season of Teen Mom OG.
