‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Fans Say Movie Will Be The Best In Franchise History [Survey]

In a new survey, a majority of Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans said the blockbuster will be the best in franchise history.

According to Variety, the survey results show nearly two-thirds of Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans — or 63 percent — believe the film will blow them away. This group believes the film will be the best the franchise has ever put out and has high expectations when it finally arrives in theaters December 18.

The online survey was commissioned by business information provider FusionOps and conducted by Harris Interactive between September 14 and 16. A total of 2,031 American adults ages 18 and older participated in the survey, with 801 admitting they were Star Wars fans.

Despite the promising results, Disney must consider that a large number of Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans — or 37 percent — are not that excited about Episode VII.

In addition, only 15 percent of Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans said director J.J. Abrams was the reason for their positive feelings about the blockbuster, which is one of the most awaited fall releases, according to another recent survey.

Not much is known about the Star Wars: The Force Awakens plot, and Abrams is keeping a tight leash on any significant details, aside from those revealed in the trailer and behind-the-scenes footage. However, fans are taking it all in stride and are grateful for any spoilers coming their way.

It is widely expected that on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens release date, box-office records will be broken. However, since this is the first of the franchise movies to be produced by Disney — after they acquired Lucasfilm for $4 billion in 2012 — there is a lot of pressure to please all fans.

Since Disney’s took over the franchise, some Star Wars fans have expressed their displeasure at the decision to do away with the canon from the original trilogy. Also, traditionalists are opposed to Disney’s inclusive approach as it relates to new Star Wars characters’ gender and sexual orientation.

Despite this, there is no doubt that Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans are more than excited and eager to watch the highly-awaited film. The new survey also asked about the merchandise that was released on the much-publicized Force Friday on Labor Day weekend.

Many Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans admitted they would go the extra mile to purchase toys and other items if there was a shortage. With Halloween approaching, 19 percent said they would dress up as one of the movie’s characters, 12 percent said they would lie to buy an item, and 12 percent said they would cut in line to expedite their purchase.

Additionally, a minority of Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans admitted they would do less than acceptable things to get what they wanted. Believe it or not, 7 percent of respondents said they would trip an elderly person and 5 percent admitted they would go as far as faking a panic attack. Desperate times call for desperate measures for this group of fans.

As the Star Wars: The Force Awakens release date approaches — there are only 80 days left — fans are getting more and more excited to see what Abrams has done with this film.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens fans will also be able to check out a series of Star Wars books, set to be released along with the movie on December 18, which will help them catch up with characters from the original trilogy and meet the newcomers.
