Oklahoma Police Officer Nate Meyer Busted For Alleged Child Porn, Now On Paid Leave

William “Nate” Meyer, a Fairview, Oklahoma police officer, has been arrested on charges of child pornography.

The exact charges are “five felony counts of possession of child pornography and one felony count for violating the Computer Crimes Act for storing child pornography on a computer,” according to the Enid News.

Reports claim that he had as many as 50 child porn images on his computer, along with a video of two prepubescent children “touching each other while nude and engaging in intercourse.”

While Nate Meyer is being held on a $50,000 bond, his wife since 2012 is not being charged and has since filed for divorce.

Those who knew Meyer personally took to the news site’s comments section to voice their “shock” over the allegations, with one commenting about how she “always liked Nathan.”

“He used to serenade my mom when he rode her bus. I’m speechless!” she said. “Praying this was a set-up.”

Another said she had known Nate Meyer for more than six years and went to school with his wife.

“I would have never guessed he would be capable of this. They have a son of their own, he served overseas. Just none of this seems possible. For their son’s sake I hope and pray that she had nothing to do with it. And I pray for him to see the error of his ways and to repent.”

As much support as the officer — now on paid administrative leave while an independent investigation is carried out — received, there were also others not so kind to him.

One person said that it was no wonder he “never liked that kid,” while another voted to “kill the scum.”

In a separate report from News On 6, the allegations against Nate Meyer did not stop with what he had on his computer. It was also reported that he had allegedly been sending “sexually explicit text messages to a teenage girl.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a law officer has been accused of sexually explicit crimes against children this year. In a previous report from the Inquisitr, it was revealed that two New Orleans officers — Bradley Wax, 54, and Michael Thomassie, age not given — were arrested after allegations were made of possessing pornographic images depicting children (Wax) and aggravated rape of a victim less than 10-years-old (Thomassie).

At the time, the officers were still on the police force. No further news has been received regarding their status as they await trial.

What do you think about cases like this and that of Nate Meyer, readers? Should officers accused of such crimes be given paid leave or allowed to continue on the force while their investigations are pending? Sound off in the comments section.
