Shoplifting Suspect Wearing ‘Won’t Be Caught’ T-Shirt Identified But Still Not Caught

A woman who allegedly shoplifted goods from a Marshall’s retail store was caught on surveillance video wearing a “won’t be caught” T-shirt.

To date, she hasn’t been caught and therefore is still at large in the community, although it remains to be seen if the attire/entire prophecy will hold true.

The “fashion” police, as it were, are on the case, however, and are determined to prove the T-shirt slogan wrong.

The suspect and her accomplice allegedly walked off with about $700 worth of purses without paying for them from a Marshall’s store in Sanford, Florida, according to cops in the Orlando-area city.

“The two women were filmed ‘selecting multiple handbags and then passed all points of sale, making no attempt to pay for their selected merchandise,’ according to police,” The Smoking Gun detailed.

At the time of the theft late last month, Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith declared that “With the community’s help, let’s prove the women wrong and bring them to justice,” the Orlando Sentinel reported.

“Authorities are hoping the unidentified woman eventually exchanges her dark T-shirt for prison blues,” the New York Daily News added about the incident.

In a break in the Marshall’s theft case, cops have now identified two suspects and detained one of them, WKMG-TV in Orlando explained.

“Sanford police have identified a woman accused of shoplifting while wearing a ‘Won’t Be Caught’ T-shirt after one of the suspect’s family members contacted authorities. Police said Lexus Perry was taken into custody Sept. 5, and police are still looking for Shazonya Williams, who was wearing the ‘Won’t Be Caught’ shirt in the surveillance pictures.”

Back in April, in a separate Florida-based incident, a woman wearing a “won’t be caught” T-shirt and a female companion were filmed on a surveillance camera allegedly helping themselves to about $1,500 in perfume products from a beauty supply store in the Tampa area without paying.

Both suspects were subsequently arrested, but the woman wearing the T-shirt in question, who reportedly has a long rap sheet, apparently no-showed her court date and is now considered a fugitive.

Evidently, sports apparel giant Nike manufactures the “won’t be caught” T-shirt that is being used for other than its intended motivational purpose. “Sure, Nike’s original message probably had something to do with speed and agility, but this is the second woman caught on tape shoplifting while wearing the T… Maybe Nike should reconsider selling merchandise in Florida,” Complex quipped.
