Charlie Hunnam recently took the time to stop and chat with one excited fan while filming in Northern Ireland for The Lost City of Z. The fan, who recorded the interaction with Hunnam and posted the video to Twitter, talked about the encounter with UTV.
“I’m a huge Sons of Anarchy fan and, a couple of months ago, I had a portrait of the character he plays – Jax Teller – tattooed on my thigh,” Marc Patton stated. “I had read last week that Charlie was filming at the old Bangor leisure centre and I was wanting to go up and see if I could see him, but I was at the Manchester United match against Liverpool and wasn’t back ’til 4pm.”
Despite the late game, Patton still managed to get to Bangor in time to see Hunnam.
“My flight arrived in and I drove straight to Bangor. I was there for about 45 minutes when I saw Charlie come out.”
After he spotted the Sons of Anarchy star, Patton called over to Charlie Hunnam and told him about his tattoo. In response, Charlie gave Patton a thumbs up before getting inside his vehicle.
“I thought that was it, but then on the way out in a minivan, he rolled the window down and was wanting to see my tattoo.”
In the encounter that followed, which Patton subsequently posted to social media, Hunnam got an up close and personal look at the tattoo, signed an autograph, and even posed for a photo.

“He said it was amazing and asked me who did it, so I told him Bali from Tattoos For Lost Souls in Belfast,” Patton explained. “It was funny because I was standing with my trousers down showing him and there were all these girls about. He shook my hand, signed my Sons of Anarchy book and let me get a picture, so I got a selfie.”
Apparently, Hunnam had nothing but good things to say to the fan about the tattoo, and the meeting left Patton feeling awed.
“He said it’s a fantastic job and then asked to see it again. It was amazing – I really couldn’t believe it!” Patton stated.
Charlie Hunnam is currently filming in Northern Ireland for The Lost City of Z, which also stars Robert Pattison and is being produced by Brad Pitt. Filming for the movie is expected to continue in Ireland for now, with the movie set to hit theaters in 2016.
