Fall Out Boy: Taylor Swift Among Group’s Dream Collaborations

Could Fall Out Boy and Taylor Swift make a rockin’ song? That’s what the dudes from the punk rock band think, which is why the group would love to collaborate with the country-turned-pop superstar, according to Pete Wentz.

At least, that’s what the Fall Out Boy bassist told Notion magazine in a September print interview.

“We did this Victoria’s Secret show with Taylor and she sang ‘Light ‘Em Up’ with us. She is very in demand, though, isn’t she? I wouldn’t hold my breath. She was so sweet.”

Wentz may not be optimistic about the chances of an immediate collaboration between Fall Out Boy and Taylor Swift, but the idea isn’t too far-fetched. As Wentz mentioned, the punk band and pop princess have worked together in the past, and Taylor Swift has shown herself to be a fan of the band in the past.

Take this cover of “Sugar, We’re Going Down,” for example. Swift sang the song at her Rosemont, Illinois concert in 2011.

And two years ago, Taylor Swift brought Fall Out Boy front man Patrick Stump out as one of her infamous surprise guests at a show in New Jersey. Together, Stump and Swift sang “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark” — the same song they sang together at the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Clearly, the idea of Fall Out Boy and Taylor Swift working together isn’t unprecedented, and it’s not even really that unrealistic. Sure, Swift is at the top of her game and Fall Out Boy is slowly regaining popularity after a hiatus, but the “Wildest Dream” singer clearly has a musical interest in the men from Fall Out Boy.

The seemingly mismatched musical styles of Fall Out Boy and Taylor Swift could be really interesting, too. Both Taylor Swift and Fall Out Boy are known for collaborating with other artists who don’t really seem to fit their style, and often the result is magical. For example, Fall Out Boy has collaborated with everyone from Jay Z, Wiz Khalifa, and Lil Wayne to the Band Perry. In the same interview, Pete Wentz mentioned that he and Fall Out Boy would like to collaborate with Rihanna, as well.
