‘The Walking Dead’: Sonequa Martin-Green’s Husband Joins The Cast For Season 6

It seems The Walking Dead has become a family affair for Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Sasha in the hit series from AMC. Not only did she give birth to a baby boy recently after having to hide her pregnancy while on set, but her husband, Kenric Green, will now be joining the cast.

Sonequa gave birth to her son, Kenric Justin Green II, on January 10 of this year, meaning she was very pregnant during the filming of Season 5 of The Walking Dead. According to an interview she did with Entertainment Weekly, it was easy enough to hide behind her gun and by using the standard face shots and creative angles to hide her pregnancy. But now that her husband has signed on for The Walking Dead, it should be easy for the pair to split the task of caring for their child between takes.

As yet, very little is known about the Kenric Green’s role beyond what Scott M. Gimple revealed during an unaired bonus scene of the special episode of Talking Dead that ran before the premiere of AMC’s companion program to The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead. According to Movieweb, this is what Scott M. Gimple had to say about Kenric Green’s role.

“Scott is a character from the comic, played by Kenric Green, Sonequa Martin-Green’s husband. He’s fantastic, and it’s cool to see another character from the book come to life, and that’s probably all I should say.”

In the comic books, there is a character from Alexandria called Scott who is a supply runner. It will be interesting to see if this is the Scott they are referring to or whether the name is simply a holder name, as is commonly used by AMC to hide the identity of a character from the comic series. This is usually done to prevent spoilers the character’s real name may reveal if it is released. And this might just be the case, since when Fansided reached out to Kenric via Twitter to see if he could shed some more light on this new role, Kenric replied with “Here is an exclusive for you ‘no comment’ :)”

Regardless, Sonequa Martin-Green took to Twitter to voice her excitement about her husband joining the cast of The Walking Dead:

The Walking Dead will return to AMC on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
