Celine Dion Reveals Her Husband’s Final Wish Is To Breathe His Last In Her Arms

Celine Dion has returned to Las Vegas, but she shared how difficult it was to tear away from her husband, who’s struggling with throat cancer. She revealed that his only wish is to breathe his last in her arms.

Singing sensation Celine Dion opened up about the struggles her husband, René Angélil, is going through and how his battle with throat cancer is filled with uncertainty. Despite the terminal diagnosis, Angélil’s only wish is to die in her arms, said Dion.

René Angélil, 73, is battling throat cancer, and doctors are not quite sure how much more time he has. Caregivers have been feeding him intravenously for two years, shared Dion. However, despite his steadily degenerating condition, he made it clear that his final and only wish is to be with the one person who he fell in love with and still is — his lovely wife Celine Dion, reported MSN.

Nonetheless, Angélil knows that though Dion is very much dedicated, he would rather have her return to her first passion: singing, reported USA Today.

“I didn’t want to be here at first, I don’t need it. Don’t get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities.”

Despite living in Las Vegas, 47-year-old Dion had taken a year-long break to be with her husband, reported Yahoo Celebrity. However, now Angélil has insisted that Dion return to singing, and she in turn wants to respect his wishes.

“But René really gave me a gift. All my grieving, it was during this last year. I think I’ve got this. For now. When it hits me, it’s going to hit me. But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we’re fine. I’ll take care of our kids. You’ll watch us from another spot.”

It is truly heartwarming to see how the couple understands each other’s intrinsic needs and are insistent that they fulfill it. No wonder that their relationship lasted for so long. Celine Dion met Angélil when she was barely 12-years-old. He would later take on the duties of her manager and eventually marry her. After a marriage that has lasted for more than two decades, the only thing that has hindered their married life is the terminal illness.

But when she asked him if he was scared, Angélil replied to Dion, “I want to die in your arms.”

It will undoubtedly be an emotional return to the stage, but Celine Dion is doing it to show her husband that she can and is able to perform, so he can stop worrying.
