Tracy Morgan ‘SNL’: Comedian To Host ‘SNL’ In October, A Year After Life-Changing Crash

Tracy Morgan is set to host SNL in October, just over a year after a horrific accident that changed his life forever. According to the Wrap, Tracy Morgan will host the show for his second time on October 17 (this will be the third show of the new season).

Morgan has made very few public appearance since the aforementioned accident that left him critically injured, and left one of his dear friends dead.

As you may recall, Morgan had been riding in a limo bus after a show when a Walmart tractor trailer truck collided with the vehicle, causing it to flip over.

“The limo bus — returning from a stand-up comedy gig in Delaware — flipped, killing James McNair, who performed under the stage name Jimmy Mack. Morgan and two others were hospitalized in critical condition at the time; the fourth injured passenger was listed in fair condition. Walmart and Morgan settled their lawsuit in May. In March, the mega-corporation agreed to pay McNair’s family $10 million in a separate settlement.”

Tracy Morgan returning to SNL is wonderful news. Many people are excited to see Tracy Morgan back on television, and look forward to hearing his monologue at the beginning of the show. According to Us Weekly, this will be Morgan’s official return to comedy — and to the stage — since the accident.

This appearance on Saturday Night Live will be very emotional for him, and for his thousands of fans.

Morgan has been a part of the NBC family for many years. He was a regular on SNL from 1996 to 2003, and then went on to do 30 Rock from 2006 to 2013. The fact that he is going to appear on NBC for his comeback is really quite special. He has already tweeted about the exciting news, calling the SNL stage “home.”

Thousands if not millions of people will be tuning in to watch what will undoubtedly be an emotional, super special night for Tracy Morgan, his family, and the NBC family. It is unknown what his plans are after hosting SNL or if he will return to work, even on a part-time basis. For now, he seems to be focused on one thing at a time, and is really looking forward to his upcoming SNL appearance.
