‘Game Of Thrones’ Alum Spotted In Belfast–Is Lady Stoneheart Far Behind?

Despite the unprecedented level of secrecy surrounding the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones, eager fans have still managed to glean details about what may be in the pipeline for the favorite and least favorite characters next year. Because production has been so tight-lipped this season, speculation has cropped up with the arrival of key actors in Belfast, the seat of production for Game of Thrones.

The sighting of actor Kit Harrington in Belfast, and still sporting Game of Thrones trademark long hair and beard, sparked feverish speculation of whether or not Jon Snow will appear in the sixth season. Unfortunately, even if Harrington appears in Season 6 of Game of Thrones, it may only be for the men of the Night’s Watch to dispose of his dead body.

Now another Game of Thrones veteran’s arrival in Belfast is spawning rumors about what is to come next season. Although, this character’s inclusion may bring fans only more pain.

According to fansite Watchers on the Wall, veteran actor David Bradley, also known as the Late Lord Walder Frey, was photographed by a fan arriving at Belfast airport. According to Watchers on the Wall, Bradley isn’t working on any projects in the area that could easily explain his presence.

Bradley previously confirmed that Walder Frey would return to Game of Thrones, but the actor declined to say exactly which season would feature the character.

“He will be coming back, but I can’t say when. I can’t really say because things are in a delicate situation.”

Walder Frey drew the ire of Game of Thrones fans when he betrayed the Starks to their deaths in an event known in the series and to fans as the Red Wedding. Since the demise of Catelyn and Robb Stark, along with most of their bannermen and soldiers, the narrative of Game of Thrones has focused on Frey’s co-conspirators, House Bolton, but Bradley’s return to Belfast suggests that is about to change.

Fans of A Song of Ice and Fire are probably more excited about what Walder Frey’s return could mean. Specifically, the inclusion of Lady Stoneheart. Fansite Winter is Coming reports that the inclusion of Walder Frey makes Lady Stoneheart possible, though still not very likely. Lady Stoneheart serves as vengence for House Frey for the deaths of the Starks and their violation of guest right, the Westerosi custom which protects visitors who receive bread and salt.

There are two other details which Winter is Coming points out may mean Lady Stoneheart is upon us. The first is a casting notice, largely overlooked in the wake of Norther Lords and young Ned Stark, which calls for “a son who is unable to live up to the demands of his savage father.” The son is in his late 30s, and is described as “hapless.”

Could this be Merrett Frey, one of Lady Stoneheart’s victims?

The second comes from Game of Thrones prosthetic supervisor Barrie Gower that a special effects sequences that was initially planned for Season 4, before being bumped to Season 5, and is finally scheduled for Season 6. Lady Stoneheart has significant damage to her face and throat sustained during the Red Wedding, which would require prosthetic make up to achieve.

So for Game of Thrones fans, Lady Stoneheart seems more possible than ever before.
