Maher On Trump: ‘I Get Him, He Doesn’t Bend To The Bulls***’

“Maher on Trump” has been an increasingly popular search term since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination to the Presidency of the United States.

Trump once sued Real Time host Bill Maher, and since that time neither man has had any special affection for the other.

Nevertheless, the past few episodes of Maher’s HBO talk show have been remarkably complimentary of “The Donald,” even though Maher is always sure to say that there is “much” he doesn’t agree on with Trump.

Nevertheless, the “Maher on Trump” compliments continued to flow with this week’s episode in which Maher, speaking to a panel that included Jennifer Granholm and Douglass Heye, said that he “gets him” because he’s a guy, who doesn’t “bend to the bulls***.”

Maher called it a “giant story” that Donald Trump was ahead in Iowa because it has been “the one place that people said Donald Trump was not going to do well because he’s a New Yorker.

“This says so much about the electorate,” Maher said. “Even the evangelicals want to be called on their s***. They are desperate to have somebody lead them.”

Maher then said, “I kind of get him because we’ve kind of been doing the same thing,” implying Trump’s and his own rejection of political correctness.

Maher also said that people are “so tired of politicians saying ‘if only we had a government as good as the people.’ They know they’re not good, they know they’re not bright, and they know that they don’t know anything,” adding that that was probably a reason so many have embraced Trump in spite of his birther past.

On last week’s show, Bill Maher had more praise for Donald Trump, stating that he believed the Republican “could go all the way.”

“I hear a lot of people say, ‘It’s just a bubble. It’s going to go away, just the way Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann and all these people did.’ … For all those people who say Donald Trump could not go all the way, I don’t think they’re right. They didn’t think he would get this far…. Fox tried to put a stake in him [at Thursday’s GOP debate], and I don’t think they did.”

To that comment, Maher on Trump has been proven correct. After the first GOP debate, Trump held on to his lead and even grew his margins in some areas.
