Hillary Clinton’s Snapchat Joke Pokes Fun At Alleged National Security Violations

Hillary Clinton’s Snapchat is now up and running, a point she made clear at a recent fundraiser in Iowa, and for the embattled Democratic candidate for the presidential nomination, it was an easy way to break ice with a little humor.

“You may have seen that I have recently launched a Snapchat account,” Clinton began. “I love it — those messages disappear all by themselves.”

Snapchat messages disappear around 10 seconds after they are viewed.

While the joke drew laughs from those in attendance, it drew fire from many places on the internet, starting with Mediaite.

Commenters there remarked that “technology” and “comedy… are not Hillary’s friend.”

“Yeah Hillary,” commented another. “That was real funny. What a loser she is. Can’t wait until she goes to jail. I wonder if they will let her wear custom made orange pants suits?”

In all seriousness, the Hillary Clinton Snapchat joke may have come at a horrible time in her campaign. Thus far, there have been top secret messages turn up on her private server, though the State Department is taking the position that the messages were not classified at the time.

Still, there have been multiple messages turn up through a limited audit and the investigation is ongoing. Some reporters at the Iowa event asked her if the Snapchat joke was a way of taking the investigation too lightly.

“I never sent classified material on my email, and I never received any that was marked classified,” Clinton maintained in comments reported by NBC News.

“We’ll see how this all plays out, but it’s not something the people raise with me as I travel around the country,” Clinton added, noting that most of the focus is on “the issues” and that it’s the Republicans, who are making a bigger deal of the email probe than necessary.

“This is the usual ‘partisanization’ of anything that goes on,” she said.

Another reason the Hillary Clinton Snapchat joke may have been ill-advised — she recently fell behind Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire, and her “trustworthiness” in the eyes of voters has dropped significantly on numerous polls, per CNN.

But what do you think, readers? Since the investigation is ongoing, do you think more classified materials will be found on Hillary’s private server, and if so, does that make the Hillary Clinton Snapchat joke a possible blow for the one-time frontrunner? Sound off in the comments section below.
