Troian Bellisario Loves To Work With Fiancé Patrick J. Adams

Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario has just made her second appearance on Suits, and although Bellisario played opposite her real-life fiancé Patrick J. Adams, the characters they played could hardly have been considered to be anything remotely akin to lovers. Troian played Claire, someone who ran across Adams’ character, Mike Ross, when he was working as a bike messenger.

As Mike prepared to litigate his first case for the law firm for which he now works, Ms. Bellisario’s character worked the case as opposing counsel, pitting Troian and Adams against one another on set.

“The thing with Claire is that the last time we saw her, she was a possible romantic interest for Mike, but she very quickly squashed that when she became the first woman that he lied to about going to school for law,” Bellisario said in an interview with People magazine. “When she comes back, she’s somebody who can pose a very big threat to him because she’s not at Pearson Hardman kind of under his veil of trust and safety, where everyone’s kind of agreed, whether they want to or not, to protect him. But she’s kind of a free agent who has this information that could easily ruin him and make a lot of trouble for a lot of people.”

The real-life romance between Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams began when they met on the stage, as Bellisario and Adams were both performing in the 2009 play Equivocation. A three-year courtship led to an engagement in the winter of 2014, and even after so much time together, the couple seems to still enjoy working together. Patrick guest starred in an episode of Pretty Little Liars (he played Hardy in the first season episode “Reality Bites Me” for the PLL fans), while Troian guest starred on Adams’ Suits for the second time.

“It’s a blast,” said Bellisario of their on-screen reunion. “It’s just always so much fun to get to play around with your partner, because you have so much in life to draw on, and you have so much trust. When he tells me that something isn’t working in a scene, I trust him to the end of the earth.”

Ms. Bellisario confesses that she often visits the set of Suits, which is filmed in Toronto, so Troian is already a familiar face to most of the cast and crew.

“I’m usually there kind of hanging around, getting Patrick snacks, so it’s really fun for me to have something to do,” joked Troian. “I get to work with all these people that I really love, and I get to watch them do an amazing job every day and to get to contribute to that and work with these departments. It’s so much fun, and it’s a great opportunity.”
