Dannielynn Birkhead, Anna Nicole Smith’s Daughter, Wears Flower Hat At Kentucky Derby

Dannielynn Birkhead, the late Anna Nicole Smith’s five-year-old daughter, took in the Kentucky Derby this weekend with her father Larry.

Birkhead was all smiles, wearing a hat full of flowers and a floral dress, as her father walked her around Churchill Downs.

Dannielynn has had an unusual childhood. Her mother Anna Nicole Smith passed away when she was just five months old and her big brother Daniel passed away just a few days after her birth. Radar Online also notes that Dannielynn was also at the center of an intense paternity battle.

But despite the trauma, the little girl looks perfectly happy.

Her father Larry has done his best to keep her out of the spotlight but he did like Dannielynn answer a few friendly questions before the Derby. When asked which horse she thought was going to win the Kentucky Derby, the little girl said “the red horse.” Unfortunately, I’ll Have Another won the race wearing a yellow number and a purple and white jockey.

The Hollywood Life reports that Dannielynn was attending her first Derby, but her parents Larry and Anna Nicole Smith were both regulars at Churchill Downs. In fact, Larry, a native of Kentucky, met Smith for the first time at the Derby in 2004.

she is such a cutie! he is an amazing dad & good for him for keeping her out of the spotlight instead of immersing her in it, good to see some still have good parenting styles.

Yes Dannielynn is a beautiful girl…and Dad is going to exploit her for all she's worth..this is not the way for dad to forward his own agenda…

this child has had a chance of a normal life simply because her mother is not in the picture. Just think of the craziness she would have grown up with if Anna Nicole was raising her.

She's a real cutie. Her dad has been very successful in keeping her out of the tabloid press so far. I hope it continues.

I am overwhelmed by everything this photo is about…innocence, beauty, bittersweet reminder of the tragic life/death of Anna Nicole, but an inspiration. And, the cute little hand puppy horse is a cutie, also!

In case no one noticed… The "Red" horse DID win — I'll Have Another is a Chestnut — consequently RED. The child guessed correctly.
She is Beautiful, and her dad seems to be doing a great job. More power to him. Keep up the good work! Danielynne is worth every effort.

Thanks for posting an uplifting story. I saw this yesterday elsewhere and was impressed that he has been successful at keeping her out of the public eye so long. They look very happy and it's obvious he just adores her. Keep up the good work, Larry!

I made a typo above and the error was immediately sent as my comment! Annoying! was talking about the parched lake bed. Saw pink spoonbills there awhile back. Tonight 4 Sandhill cranes were strolling on your front sidewalk. Expect they will access the lake from your back yard. Very haughty walk, and they never move for a car!

I believe that she is Adorable, and that He is the BEST DAD that she could EVER HOPE FOR! I am SO PROUD OF HIM! It's VERY CLEAR TO ME THAT HE LOVES HER WITH ALL HIS HEART! MAY GOD BLESS HIM!
