Kelly Osbourne Controversy: Nicolle Wallace Asks ‘The View’ Co-Hosts If Kelly Osbourne Should Be Forgiven For Derogatory Remarks

As the Inquisitr reported, Kelly Osbourne made an unintentional sweeping generalization about the Latin community while on The View. During a Hot Topics segment, Osbourne was trying to chastise Donald Trump for his derogatory remarks about Mexicans, and wound up sticking her foot in her mouth.

At the time, Osbourne asked, “If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?”

Rosie Perez immediately interrupted her to say that there are plenty of jobs that the Hispanic community holds. Despite Kelly’s derogatory remark, the co-panelists agreed that she got a pass. At the end of the show, Perez even apologized to Osbourne.

One day after the show, and several hours after Osbourne’s statement went viral, one co-host questioned whether or not Kelly should have been so easily forgiven. Co-host Nicolle Wallace, who was absent from the table during Kelly’s appearance, came back to the panelists and said that they might have been too easy on Osbourne because she’s a friend of the show.

Wallace told her View co-panelists, “What struck me was that you guys know her heart, and it was so instant that you were able to forgive her. It made me wonder if we gave that kind of benefit of the doubt to people that we are ideologically opposed to, what a game changer that would be.”

She continued, “I mean, if Ted Cruz said that, or Mike Huckabee said that, I can picture all of you looking in the camera saying, ‘I’m going to do something in my toilet to you.’ ”

Then Wallace asked for her co-panelists to “take Trump and Kelly both out of it” and instead to put in place “a politician that you might disagree with.” She continued, “I’ve been here for 10 months, and every time someone says something, every time they step in doodie and it’s in our rundown, we all take turns beating the piñata.”

Whoopi Goldberg argued that they do pay attention to real racist remarks, insinuating that Kelly Osbourne’s remarks weren’t racist simply because she didn’t mean them. Co-panelists Michelle Collins and Raven-Symone both felt this way, too. Symone said, “We are sitting on a public table getting bombarded every day, and Kelly knows this. That’s my girl. She feels awful right now. She is not a racist.”

While Collins noted, “The second it came out of her mouth, you could tell, she was like, ‘What did I just say?’ ”

Osbourne released a statement after receiving massive backlash for her comment about the Latin community.

“I want to start by saying I ALWAYS take responsibility for my actions. In this particular case I will take responsibility for my poor choice of words but I will not apologize for being a racist as I am NOT. I whole-hearted f**ked up today. I don’t want to bulls**t anyone with lame excuses.”

Osbourne continued, “Although, I was stopped mid-sentence by Rosie and couldn’t finish my point I will not let Rosie take responsibility for my words. I should have known better as I was on The View and it was live. I’ve learned a very valuable lesson. It is my hope that this situation will open up a conversation about immigration and the Latin community as a whole. By the way I clean my own f**king toilets.”
