HitchBOT Killer Caught On Snapchat Video: Man Who Killed The Cross-Country Robot Gets 279,000-Plus Views [Video]


The robot named HitchBOT gained so much attention because of a hopeful trip across the country. HitchBOT’s hitchhiking journey came to an end in the city of brotherly love when HitchBOT was found destroyed in Philadelphia. Now a reporter named Adam Gabbatt has uncovered the Snapchat footage of the moment when HitchBOT was destroyed.

That video can be seen below of HitchBOT being kicked and stomped behind an obstruction by a man wearing a sports jersey.

According to the HitchBOT Instagram page, the Canadian robot was “hitchhiking across the country, one ride at a time.” The HitchBOT Instagram page swelled to more than 23,200 followers, who began to get into the footage of strangers picking up the robot and giving HitchBOT a ride.

As reported by the Inquisitr, HitchBOT was destroyed by an unknown person, but now that HitchBOT’s killer has been caught on camera, the person who murdered HitchBOT might be closer to being revealed.

The Gizmodo article titled “Here’s Video of the Jerk Who Killed hitchBOT” has received more than 279,000 views since it was published on August 3. That means within a matter of hours, folks have been viewing the video of HitchBOT’s killer aplenty. In no time, one of those viewers might be able to peg the identity of the man who killed HitchBOT.

HitchBOT might come back to life — a tech-based group has offered to help put the robot back together. HitchBOT had eyes and ears in terms of technology — with the robot coming equipped with GPS, video, 3G, and audio capabilities prior to it being destroyed. That’s how footage of folks who’d picked up HitchBOT along the way of the robot’s journey had made it around news reports prior to it being destroyed. Therefore it’s poetic justice that HitchBOT’s killer would end up being caught on camera in the very act of vandalism that made buzz around the world.

The HitchBOT robot had already traveled to Canada, the Netherlands, and Germany prior to meeting with an untimely end in Philadelphia.
