Jared Fogle: Former Subway Spokesman Allegedly Paid 16-Year-Old Girl $100 For Intercourse, Affidavit Reveals

Jared Fogle is under fire after an FBI subpoena revealed that the former Subway spokesman bragged about paying a 16-year-old girl $100 to have sex with him.

The FBI subpoenaed an affidavit showing text messages between Fogle and a female who worked at a Subway franchise, Business Insider reported. In the messages, Jared reportedly told the woman to advertise herself on Craigslist and find men to have sex with while he watched.

In a text message, the woman wrote, “Is this the same website you found that 16-year-old girl that you f–ked….I still can’t believe you only paid $100 for her.”

“It was amazing,” Fogle reportedly responded.

It appears the act itself may not be illegal, as the age of consent is 16 in Indiana, where Fogle lives. But if money changed hands he could faces charges for prostitution.

Business Insider said the information came from a lawyer hired by the woman after she complained to Subway about Jared’s behavior. The outlet said the affidavit is “independently verified.”

Fogle was suspended by Subway last month after authorities raided his home in Indiana as part of a child pornography investigation. During an 11-hour sweep of his home FBI agents reportedly took electronics, paper documents, and other items.

Investigators were reportedly tipped off by a television journalist who knows Fogle and said she heard him make reference to being attracted to “middle school girls.”

“They weren’t jokes,” the unidentified reporter told an ABC affiliate in Sarasota. “They were very serious.”

Jared issued a statement through lawyer Ron Elberger saying he was cooperating full with police.

“Jared has been cooperating, and continues to cooperate, with law enforcement in their investigation of unspecified charges and looks forward to its conclusion. He has not been detained, arrested or charged with any crime or offense.”

On July 7, shortly after news broke of the FBI investigation, Subway announced that it was cutting ties with Jared, who rose to national attention in 1999 after losing a tremendous amount of weight thanks to a diet of Subway sandwiches.

“Subway and Jared Fogle have mutually agreed to suspend their relationship due to the current investigation,” a Subway spokesman said in a statement. “Jared continues to cooperate with authorities and he expects no actions to be forthcoming. Both Jared and Subway agree that this was the appropriate step to take.”

Jared Fogle has denied allegations related to the child pornography search last month. He has not responded to the latest allegation that he paid $100 to have sex with a 16-year-old.
