Puddle Of Mudd Singer DWI: Wes Scantlin Had 4 Times Legal Alcohol Limit, Drove 100 MPH Trying To Flee [Video]

Puddle of Mudd singer Wes Scantlin was arrested for DWI. The Puddle of Mudd frontman is charged with driving while he was intoxicated and then trying to make a run for it in his car, reported MSN.

The arrest took place in in Renville County, New Mexico. The singer declined to comply with a request to be tested with a breathalyzer. In addition to the DWI charge, the Puddle of Mudd frontman attempted to flee in his auto.

Although this incident occurred on Sunday, it’s not the first for the singer. Beginning in 2004, Wes has a history of police encounters for reasons ranging from drugs to domestic violence.

When the Puddle of Mudd singer tried to flee before his DWI arrest, he was driving approximately 100 miles per hour, reported Star Tribune Media.

Described as “extremely drunk” while the 43-year-old tried to get away on a southern Minnesota rural highway, he went to the Renville County District Court the following day to respond to two counts of drunken driving, a felony, and a charge for using a car to flee from police. The Puddle of Mudd singer posted bail before being released.

During an initial breath test, Scantlin had a almost four times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood for Minnesota driving, measuring 0.31 percent. Wes resides in Los Angeles, but was in Minnesota for a performance in Royalton at the Halfway Jam.

The chase began when an officer noticed the Puddle of Mudd singer’s car driving above the speed limit of 30 miles per hour. When the sergeant attempted to follow him after reaching a 60 mph area, Scantlin sped up to 80 mph.

Wes then switched his direction, speeding to a high of 100 mph before he halted.

“[Scantlin] was observed to slur his words as he spoke,” said the complaint, was also noted that he reeked of alcohol and had watery, bloodshot eyes.

Following the blood test, he was temporarily put in prison.

Among the incidents in his checkered past, Minnesota State University cancelled a Puddle of Mudd concert when school officials were informed that the singer had been arrested for disorderly conduct after he tossed a bottle and spit on concert-goers at an Ohio concert.

“He needs help before he hurts himself or someone else,” said Wes’ ex-mother-in-law, Linda Smith.

The Puddle of Mudd singer isn’t the only to be arrested for a DWI and similar incidents. As the Inquisitr reported, teen idol David Cassidy had three DUI arrests.
