Zain Jangda: Houston Witness Captures Shootout Between Off Duty Officer And Robbery Suspects [Video]

Zain Jangda just stopped to grab something at a Shell station in Huffmeister, Texas, close to Houston. He never managed to enter the store. He noticed two armed men robbing the store, and Zain pulled out his phone to film the crime as it happened. He ended up getting more on his camera than he bargained for.

At about the moment Jangda is pulling away, an off-duty police officer from nearby Tomball was pumping gas. He noticed the robbery as well. The perpetrators exited the building, and the officer attempted to stop them. At that moment, the suspects opened fire on the officer.

Zain Jangda kept rolling footage of the station until he heard the gunfire. At that moment, he decided to speed away. He posted the altercation on his YouTube account.

The suspects in question managed to get to their vehicle while the officer returned fire. They ditched the car at a nearby apartment complex. Then, they fled on foot. As of this moment, they have not been apprehended. They are obviously considered armed and dangerous.

Both the suspect’s car, which had been stolen, as well as the officer’s truck, were riddled with bullet holes. Zain Jangda’s vehicle was able to get away unscathed, but Jangda was obviously shaken by the ordeal when KHOU New 11 Houston caught up with him.

“I’m thankful for a lot of things. One of them is I get to see my mom again and see my friends are OK. I don’t know, it’s just, it’s never really quite the same until you’re right next to the whole thing happening. Part of me wanted to get out and help but I’m not trained for that, and the officer, off-duty sure enough had it covered pretty much.”

Fortunately, no one at the scene suffered any injuries despite more than 24 shots being fired. The clerk inside the store told officers that the suspects had held a gun to his head. The robbers managed to get away with more than a thousand dollars including two customers wallets, according to Click 2 Houston.

Very rarely does a civilian bystander get an upfront seat to something like this. I am sure Zain Jangda will not soon forget it. What would you do if you were in a similar situation? Would you stand your ground and film as much of it as possible or would you decide you’d seen enough and get out of there?
