Kelly Price Divorce: R&B Star Splits From Husband, Cuts Business Ties With Jeffrey Rolle

R&B star Kelly Price announced that she will be getting a divorce after being married for 23 years to her husband, Jeffrey Rolle, Sr. Price relayed the divorce news in a statement to AlwaysAList.com.

“After the untimely death of my sister last year, it weighed on me heavily that this was something we needed to do. I ultimately made the decision to live the best life I can. I ended things because I didn’t want to compromise what true happiness was anymore. There are no hard feelings and I will love Jeff until the day I die!”

Kelly Price, a seven-time Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, also revealed that she will no longer maintain a business relationship with Rolle, her manager. The 42-year-old former reality TV star has been with Rolle since she was 19-years-old. The couple has two children together, 23-year-old son Jeffrey Rolle, Jr., and 21-year-old daughter, Jonia Rolle.

Kelly Price’s successful career as a singer began back in 1992 when Mariah Carey overheard her singing in a rehearsal hall at the Grammy Awards. Impressed with what she heard, Carey decided to introduce Price to her now ex-husband, Sony Columbia’s former CEO Tommy Mottola. The talented young woman quickly rose to stardom thanks to appearances on hit singles such as Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy,” The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money Mo Problems,” and Whitney Houston’s “Heartbreak Hotel.” During her career, Price has worked with a variety of big name artists such as Faith Evans, Aretha Franklin, and R. Kelly.

Kelly Price’s divorce news comes just days after R&B singer Anthony Hamilton announced that he was divorcing his wife of 10 years, Tarshá Hamilton. While Price said that she will cut business ties with her husband, Hamilton will continue to work in tandem on various music projects with his wife.

“Tarshá and Anthony’s greatest priorities are loving and raising their three children and are committed to co-parenting together,” a representative for the couple said in a statement. “Both will continue to work in tandem on various music projects including Tarshá’s upcoming debut Sounds Like Tarshá which will be released on Pennie Bank Productions.”

There have been several celebrity couples to announce divorce plans in recent weeks. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, country music stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert revealed earlier this month that they were getting a divorce after living separately for months.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” Shelton’s representative told Us Weekly. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
