‘General Hospital’ Says Goodbye To Luke Spencer, Anthony Geary Gets Farewell Messages From Co-Stars

On July 27, Anthony Geary will have his last air date on General Hospital. Soap fans will be saying farewell to his longtime character, Luke Spencer, as he leaves Port Charles for good. The actor had announced his retirement from the ABC daytime drama that he has been a part of for decades. Not only are viewers saying goodbye, but his GH co-stars are also bidding him farewell.

There have been many sweet messages posted on Twitter, from both fans and GH actors, that will make anyone who has ever watched this soap opera cry. One of the most emotional videos so far came from his co-star and onscreen former love, Genie Francis. Of course, Geary’s character will always be remembered by his coupling with Laura Webber Spencer, no matter how the actor really feels about it.

Even though some people don’t watch this daytime drama, everyone seems to know the famous Luke and Laura. Genie called Anthony Geary her “soulmate,” as well as some other loving words for him.

Those memories of Luke and Laura hold a special place in the hearts of GH fans. The Inquisitr had previously noted that Tony Geary was very emotional about saying goodbye to his fellow actors that he has worked with for so long. In addition to Genie Francis’ farewell video, a few other colleagues had also paid their own personal tribute to the longtime General Hospital star.

Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) and Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) posted their own special version of their farewell to Tony. These videos all come with clips from previous years showing the action, adventure, love, torment, and affection that has come with his character of Luke Spencer.

Jackie Zeman, who plays Luke’s sister, Bobbie Spencer, shared their first scene together from 1978. Viewers have loved all of the flashbacks from years past that they have remembered back then. A promo of Anthony Geary’s final week was posted that featured some of the most memorable moments from his years on General Hospital. It also had a clip of Luke carrying a bag over his shoulder and walking out into the fog on the Port Charles docks.

The 68-year-old actor told TV Insider in an exclusive interview that it would be a simple exit and he wasn’t kidding. Luke is supposed to leave his friends and family behind to figure out what he really wants out of life now that Lucky is safe and little Jake is back home. This exit also gives him the chance to come back for a visit, if he so chooses to.
