5SOS Star Calum Hood Stinks Of Salami, According To His Band Mates

Calum Hood plays bass guitar with Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer. The band are currently out on their first major headline world tour. On Friday, 5SOS dropped their latest single “She’s Kinda Hot” to coincide with the start of the U.S. leg of their “Rock Out With Your Socks Out” tour. On top of their tour, it seems that Calum and his mates have already laid down the majority of tracks for their sophomore album. You would think that life is great for Hood and the rest of the band. Not necessarily so!

It seems that 5SOS have a problem with Calum Hood, and that problem is a very smelly one. According to Unreality TV, 5SOS drummer Ashton Irwin told Nova 96.9 that Calum’s body odor was becoming a real problem after nine weeks on the road.

“It is our 63rd day on tour … on the road. It has been great. It has been the best experience of our lives so far. It was always the dream. It’s tiring … you get very tired and Calum smells all the time. 63 days on tour, 63 days without a shower!”

According to Fashion & Style, Hood previously told the Belfast Telegraph that he stinks of salami when he sweats.

“When we used to rehearse, we’d be stuck in this tiny airless room and after a few hours, when we’d all been sweating, the room always smelt like salami. That’s what our combined smell as a band is.”

According to Kpopstarz, Hood is currently having a break from his rumored girlfriend, Jennifer Phipps. It isn’t clear if that break is as a result of Calum’s body odor issues or whether the break is an enforced one as a result of Hood’s touring commitments. There have also been stories in the gossip columns that Hood and his 5SOS mates have agreed a “no girlfriends” rule whilst the band are touring.

According to Yibada, Hood and his mates have a few surprises up their sleeves for fans when their new album drops towards the end of this year. Irwin claims that the material for the new album will be much more personal and has a more distinctive sound. Hood and his pals believe that their experiences over the last couple of years have allowed them to write better songs, that they hope fans will be able to relate to.

Calum and his 5SOS mates have laid down their tracks over the past three months and said it is “almost ready.” Perhaps if the album proves to be a huge success, 5SOS will be able to combat Calum Hood’s smelly problem by booking into hotels with shower facilities when they are on tour.
