Dylan Penn On Charlize Theron: ‘She’s A Powerhouse!’
Charlize Theron and Sean Penn may have shocked fans more than each other with the sudden break-up of their intense romance and now everyone seems to be adjusting to a world where Charlize and Sean are no longer an item. However, none of that means Dylan Penn has stopped looking to Ms. Theron for inspiration.
She may be the daughter of Sean Penn, but Dylan was right there for Charlize as soon as word of the Penn-Theron break-up became known, supporting Charlize and making her would-be stepmother know that she was still loved.
“She’s the best,” model Dylan, 24, told Us Weekly.
Dylan, who has followed in Theron’s footsteps by pursuing a modeling career, said that she has always admired Charlize and that she looks back on the two-year romance between Ms. Theron and her father, Sean, with fond memories.
“Well, she’s brilliant for one thing,” Ms. Penn said of Charlize Theron. “She’s the only woman since my mom [Robin Wright] who can shut my dad up. The only woman! That is a f—ing challenge so… She’s a powerhouse.”
Even though Sean Penn and Charlize have officially split and gone their separate ways, Dylan Penn can’t imagine life without Charlize. She says the friendship she shares with Ms. Theron has endured through the recent hardship.
“She’s hilarious. She’s very bold, in the best way.”
Speaking of her own father, she commented that the break-up with Theron has affected him more than the public may realize.
“He just went back to South Africa [to do] reshoots for his movie that he did a couple months back,” Dylan said of father Sean Penn and his current project The Last Face. “His life is this movie. I’ve seen pieces of it, and it’s a masterpiece.”
Charlize Theron wasn’t the only one of her father’s exes to earn Dylan’s admiration. Ms. Penn also spoke highly of her mother, who won a Lead Actress Emmy nomination for House of Cards.
“She deserves it. I haven’t even talked to her today. I tried to reach her, and she’s always busy,” Dylan said. “She’s either directing and acting or… House of Cards takes up her life. So maybe [I’ll congratulate her] tomorrow.”
The break-up of Charlize Theron and Sean Penn came suddenly, as the couple had only recently made the decision to tie the knot. This past February, Penn commented that his marriage to Theron would be his first in spite of having been previously married to Madonna and Robin Wright.
“You say I’ve been married twice before, but I’ve been married under circumstances where I was less informed than I am today,” Sean said in that interview. “So I wouldn’t even consider it a third marriage, I’d consider it a first marriage on its own terms if I got married again. I mean, I like the tradition.”
The Last Face, starring Charlize Theron and directed by Sean Penn, is scheduled to be released later this year.
