Pennsylvania Mother Charged With Murder After Body Of 3-Year-Old Daughter Found In Remote Wooded Area

The mother of a 3-year-old girl who was found dead in a remote, wooded area in Swissvale was charged with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of a child, and abuse of a corpse, according to WTAE.

On June 14, 26-year-old Adrienne Williams reported her daughter, Adrionna, missing and within hours, her body was discovered in a remote area.

A medical examiner concluded that the cause of death was asphyxiation.

Allegheny County police suspected Williams of the murder after she had given inconsistent statements, and numerous items from her vehicle were found at the crime scene. But when surveillance footage showed her vehicle near the location where her daughter’s body was found, she was placed under arrest on Tuesday – nearly a month after reporting her daughter missing.

Williams’ arraignment was held on Wednesday where she told the court that she had strangled her daughter to death because she was struggling to support her financially. When Williams’ family member discovered what she had done to her daughter, they were outraged.

“How were you struggling when you really didn’t take care of her? We had her. You only had her at night,” wrote Williams’ sister on her Facebook post.

“Man, she was not struggling. ‘Onna was with us seven days a week. (The) only time she left was when her mom came and got her at night,” her uncle wrote on social media.

Williams’ grandmother, Sonja Crosby, also added that the “family has been ripped apart” following the death of Adrionna Williams.

“My 13-year-old called me this morning and said, ‘She killed her. She killed her. I can’t believe she killed her.’ These are kids!”

“We’ve always been there. We always told her, ‘You don’t have to be stressed, bring that baby here.”

“Adrionna was loved. She did have family.”

Adrienne’s ex-boyfriend stated that while the two dated, he saw “no discrepancies, no type of negative instances ever between the two. They were always just normal.” And although they weren’t an item, he began coming around more often after discovering the death of her daughter.

He was stunned when he learned that she had killed her own daughter, stating that “I was supportive to Adrienne up until the evidence was revealed. (I) didn’t think there was any way.”

“I really don’t see how she could’ve been overwhelmed. She had a very good support system with her family.”

Another woman, who asked to be unnamed, claimed that “She [Adrienne] was such a good mom. She seemed to care so much for her. For her to do something like this, it had to be a meltdown or a breakdown.”

Adrienne Williams is currently being held without bond at the Allegheny County Jail, and according to reports she is on suicide watch.
