‘Game Of Thrones’ Director: ‘Jon Snow Is Deader Than Dead’

Jon Snow knows nothing about surviving multiple stab wounds. Game of Thrones director David Nutter recently divulged that he had to break the news to President Obama that Jon Snow had not, in fact, survived his wounds. It appears that not even the leader of the free world was very happy that the leader of the Night’s Watch was betrayed by his own men, even Ollie.

“Three weeks ago, I was the in the company of the President of the United States,” Nutter told EW at Comic-Con on Friday. “He turned to me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, ‘You didn’t kill Jon Snow did you?'”

The Game of Thrones exec decided that he couldn’t exactly lie to the President of the United States, so he gave it to him as straight as he could.

“I said, ‘Jon Snow is deader than dead,'” the director recalled. “I thought I was going to be sent to Guantanamo or something, but fortunately I’m here — but he’s dead.”

It appears that President Obama has the same problem other fans of Game of Thrones have with the series as it moves forward. Nutter says that the president complained that his favorite Game of Thrones characters are always getting killed off. Jon Snow isn’t the only character whose ending has been a bit ambiguous. The fact that the latest season of Game of Thrones left a number of characters’ fates up in the air was likely entirely on purpose. Not knowing exactly what happened to people like Sansa allows people to discuss more until the next season is here. Even when we actually saw Jon Snow die, people aren’t willing to believe that Jon Snow is actually dead.

When you don’t see the death, like Stannis Baratheon, the speculation is even bigger. Unfortunately, like Jon Snow, the people closest to the show are telling everyone who will listen that Stannis is dead. Nutter was the one who confirmed that death as well, claiming that also like Jon Snow, he didn’t intend for the death scene to be one that would keep people wondering if it really happened. It should be pointed out that Sansa and Reek’s fates have not actually been confirmed. When last we saw them, they were jumping off the wall. Some people believe it was obvious they preferred suicide to being tortured. Others think they might have landed in a snow bank. We’ll have to wait and see on the next season of Game of Thrones to know for sure.
