Leading into Thursday’s match between the Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel, the Zouks sat in second place with seven points from seven matches, with the league’s newest franchise, St. Kitts and Nevis, hot on their heels in third place with six.
Chris Gayle’s Jamaica team held fourth place, also on six points but with a lower net run rate than the Patriots. But a win on Thursday would put the Tallawahs at eight, tied first with the Barbados Tridents.

After a slow start, the newly minted St. Kitts and Nevis franchise has recovered nicely, winning three games including a big victory on July 6, when they smashed past the league-leading Tridents by eight wickets with almost three full overs remaining.
West Indies international Marlon Samuels led the way with a convincing 71, South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi took four wickets and star Pakistan international Shahid Afridi took three.
But as promising as the victory over powerhouse Barbados appeared for the upstart Patriots, they were quickly brought down to Earth two days later when the last place Guyana Amazon Warriors showed up at Warner Park only to blow away St. Kitts and Nevis with a 23-run victory, shortened by rain.
Samuels provided the only ray of sunshine in that gloomy game, scoring 61 off of 40 deliveries.
The Patriots close out their mostly productive seven-game homestand the following day, July 11, against Trinidad & Tobago.
