YouTuber PewDiePie Reponds To Criticism Over $7.5 Million Income, Calm Despite Hater Comments

YouTuber PewDiePie has continuously gained followers and racked views over the years, but it still came as a shock when the whole world learned that PewDiePie made over $7.5 million in 2014.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Felix Kjellberg, more popularly known as PewDiePie, has been so successful with his videos on YouTube that PewDiePie Productions made a total of $7.45 million in 2014 alone. While he has, obviously, an army of PewDiePie fans, it seems that more people are angry and jealous that PewDiePie is making such a huge sum of money.

PewDiePie is known for filming himself playing video games, and his funny and notorious commentaries during the game is what made PewDiePie very popular on YouTube. It’s been years that PewDiePie has been doing playthrough commentaries on YouTube, but it is only in 2010 when he started really rising to fame. In August, 2013, PewDiePie was so popular that he became the most subscribed channel on YouTube and, as of this writing, the PewDiePie YouTube account already has more than 37 million subscribers.

It is only natural that after Swedish news site Expressen reported PewDiePie is earning millions doing his “silly” YouTube videos, a lot of people reacted.

PewDiePie went to YouTube, of course, to answer to the hatred directed towards him, and shares that he, too, had his fair share of struggles when he started out as PewDiePie. He shares that he used to work for a hot dog stand to raise money so he could start filming his own videos.

“A lot of people which I saw were very very angry. They thought it was unfair. They thought I just sit on my a** all day, and I just yell at the screen over here. Which is true! But there’s so much more to it than that. I understand that haters are gonna hate, alright? But I really think that money doesn’t make you happy. I am just as happy as I am now, as I was five years ago… To see so many people being upset about this whole thing, it’s sad. It’s such a waste.”

PewDiePie read out some comments from his haters, and it’s painful for PewDiePie to receive such negative feedback when he is only doing what he does best—which is to do what he loves and share it to the world.

One comment reads as follows.

“I find it funny how someone who yells and plays video games makes this much money … When there are people out there who risk their lives, fighting for this country! And they get paid hardly anything.”

But PewDiePie shrugs of these comments, saying he doesn’t understand why people even care about it. He also adds that the people feasted over the news of his income, while keeping a blind eye on the good things he accomplished.

“It seems like the whole world cares more about how much money I make than I do myself. We did raise a million dollars for charity, and very few articles picked up on that, but here it is everywhere how much money I make.”

PewDiePie’s reaction video to the issue was well-received by his fans, and it was refreshing to see PewDiePie talk so calm and reserving, not at all defensive but just a hundred percent honest. PewDiePie went to Twitter to thank his “bros” for supporting him and his reaction video.
