‘Mortal Kombat X’: Predator Will Soon Be A Playable Fighter

Mortal Kombat X‘s next DLC character, Predator, will be making — his? its? — way to PC and consoles this week, developer NetherRealm recently announced. On top of that, Klassic Fatalities, previously paid options, will now be free for all players.

More specifically, Predator will join the Mortal Kombat X roster tomorrow, July 7, GameSpot revealed — but there’s a catch. The release date is only for those who ordered the season pass — those who wish to buy it piecemeal will have to wait until one week later, on July 14.

Not only will you be able to get the classic hunter as a playable character, the bundle also includes Commando Johnny, Infrared Scorpion, and Carl Weathers Jax character skins.

Yes, you read that right. Carl Weathers.

Judging from the trailer, it appears that the Predator will have plenty of ranged attacks and options to keep other characters from jumping in. At the same time, his offensive capabilities look impressive — but we’ll all have to spend time “in the lab,” as they say, before we figure out the character’s viability.

As previously stated, Predator will be available for those with a season pass, which sets you back $30, starting tomorrow. If you wish to buy the Predator bundle on its own, you’ll have to fork out $8. If you just want the character and not the bundled skins, you also have the option to pay $5 — and if for some reason you just want the skins, you only have to pay $4.

There’s been a lot of controversy over the game’s apparent obsession with micro-transactions, but the community behind it is still going strong. There’s a wide variety of players to play against on all platforms, either online or locally, and that’s not likely to change soon.

The final DLC character will be Tremor, a long-rumored character whose only appearance was in the PlayStation Vita version of Mortal Kombat 9, and he only appeared there as a non-playable character.

For now, fighting game fans will be content with learning the ins and outs of Predator.

What say you, reader? Are you interested in Predator as a character? What’s your favorite DLC character?
