Tool’s Maynard James Keenan Is Recovering From Hip Replacement Surgery

Tool’s Maynard James Keenan is recovering from replacement surgery after decades of stomping stages, years of walking around his vineyard in Arizona, and practicing to get his purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. It’s also been awhile since anyone’s heard from Tool; Maynard’s recovery may impact the long-awaited release of tour dates or the next album.

The frontman for Tool, Maynard also has another solo side project, Puscifer, which he frequently promotes on Facebook. While Keenan is very protective of his personal life, he finally took some time out to let his fans in on a big secret by sharing a personal picture of himself and releasing a statement under his Puscifer account on Facebook.

Didn’t want to freak anyone out, wanted to wait until out of the woods. Years of foot stomping left me with no cushion…

“Didn’t want to freak anyone out. Wanted to wait until out of the woods. Years of foot stomping left me with no cushion in my right hip. Full replacement yesterday. Walking today. 12 weeks, back on the mat to work towards that Brown Belt. OSS. ?#?weshallovercome? ?#?bjjforlife?,” Tool’s Maynard James Keenan wrote.

While Keenan has been working in some way or another with Puscifer since 1995, no albums were produced until 2007. He recently announced Puscifer will be releasing another album, possibly sometime in the fall, but he did not wish to provide further details, according to Blabbermouth.

Fans no doubt want to know when they will be hearing something new from Tool. Maynard James Keenan is recovering from hip replacement surgery, and there is no telling how it may impact the new album or any touring plans. It’s been eight lonely years for fans since there was a last album from Tool. Maynard and the band have been involved in a bitter and draining battle with its record label, according to Franchise Herald.

Tool’s Maynard James Keenan once said, “We’re going to trial and we want to crush them. But every time we’ve gotten close to going to trial, it gets postponed and we’ve wasted money and time and it has just drained our creative energy. We bought an insurance policy for peace of mind, but instead we would have been better off if we never had it and just dealt with the original lawsuit.”

Tool finally won the lawsuit, and now the next album can proceed normally. While the world awaits noise from Tool, Maynard and the band have been picking up the pace with the album.

Hopefully fans will soon hear much more from Tool; Maynard James Keenan is recovering from hip replacement surgery and only time will tell how that will impact the band.
