Rihanna Gets Dissed By Music Producers, Diplo Bashes The Singer For Turning Down ‘Lean On’

Rihanna may be hard at work putting the finishing touches on her eighth studio album, tentatively titled, R8, however, it appears Diplo has beef with the Barbadian beauty over Major Lazer’s hit summer anthem, “Lean On.”

The Fader published an article this week that listed 14 hit tracks that were initially intended for Rihanna, but the “Diamonds” singer later passed on, including Beyoncé’s hit, “Pretty Hurts,” Selena Gomez’s track, “Come & Get It” and even Miley Cyrus’ anthem, “We Can’t Stop.”

After the article went viral on social media, DJ and producer Diplo chimed in via Twitter, telling the Fader that Major Lazer’s hit with MØ was originally written for Rihanna.

The shade comes only a few months after Diplo revealed in an interview with London Evening Standard that he is frustrated with Rihanna, telling reporters that he’s tired of Rihanna snubbing every track he brings her.

“I was in the studio with Rihanna two weeks ago, still playing the game. I was trying to convince her why she should do so-and-so, and thinking, ”Lean On’ is bigger than any of her songs around the world right now. Why am I even sitting here trying to negotiate?'”

Despite the harsh words, Diplo isn’t the only producer who has been vocal about Rihanna’s selective nature when it comes to what will ultimately appear on R8.

Calvin Harris, who helped Rihanna gain mega success with their 2011 hit, “We Found Love,” dished to The Sun that Rihanna shockingly turned down every song that he has submitted to her for her new album.

“No, I’m not on the Rihanna album. I did a few things for it but they don’t get back to you, there are a lot of people involved…It’s okay because I’m working on my stuff and it’s going fine.”

The news comes on the heels of reports that suggest Rihanna has scrapped her initial progress on R8 in favor of a different creative vision.

Inquisitr previously reported that Rihanna wants to achieve a different vibe for her eighth album, leading her to chase popular dancehall artists in the hopes of giving R8 a totally new sound.

“I know for sure that [Rihanna’s] people have reached out to Popcaan and Vybz Kartel people to record some music, and I’ve been told that she might be flying down to GeeJam studio this summer.”

Other reports have suggested that the delay of Rihanna’s new album is purely due to poor performance of her singles, “B*tch Better Have My Money,” “American Oxygen,” and “FourFiveSeconds,” however, Rihanna has not commented on those rumors.

While Rihanna remains mum on the progress of her new album, when do you think we can expect some new material from the singer?
