Cissy Houston on Rihanna Playing Whitney Houston: ‘Over my dead body’

CissyHouston

When the two month anniversary of Whitney Houston’s death came in the beginning of April, people speculated just who would play Whitney Houston in her biopic. Well if Cissy Houston, mother of the late Whitney Houston has any say it won’t be R&B singer Rihanna.

According to a source the 78 year-old Cissy was vehemently against the idea of Rihanna playing Whitney Houston in the much talked about biopic, having said, “Over my dead body!”

The source goes on to say as follows:

“Cissy believes Rihanna celebrates everything she hated about Whitney’s life — the drugging, the boxing, the abusive relationship.”“Cissy does not think Whitney should be represented by someone like Rihanna,” the source continued. “In spite of what anyone thought about Whitney, she sees her as a God-fearing Christian who loved the Lord.”Cissy is also dead-set against a movie being made about Whitney without family involvement because she fears outsiders would focus too much on the negative aspects of her daughter’s troubled life. Cissy said IF there is a movie made about Whitney, she would insist on approving the actress.”

Of course the rumors of Rihanna’s involvement in the film set into motion when the singer, who’s making her film debut in Battleship, made comments about the possibility of being in the film and portraying Whitney Houston, stating to the Associated Press, “That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do because I would want to really pull it off.”

Two days ago it was reported that Houston’s very own daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was interested in playing the star, and is convinced that no one can play her better because, as her daughter, she knows her the best. Sources have said that Bobbi feels that if Easy E’s son can play him in a biopic, than she’s entitled to play her mother.

Also circulating around the biopic are names of popular actresses like, Meagan Goode, Gabrielle Union, Brandy, Jennifer Hudson, and Taraji P. Henson.

Who do you think is the perfect fit to portray Whitney Houston?

None of the above. Beyonce maybe could be the closest one to pulling it off–even then It would be hard getting past Beyonce and seeing anything other than Beyonce.

Bobbi Kris would be the best choice or Taraji, they would have to play all Whitney music because no one can match her singing skills. Please not Jennifer hudson she needs to find herself first.

No one should even consider trying to play Whitney.Let her rest in peace and remember her incredible voice and beauty.

I really feel like this is a role for Sanaa Lathan. Sanaa is a great actress and is way to undererated. I feel like she resembles her the most as well of all the actresses mentioned.

She doesn't need to sing, she has the look and class…

You know folks, Whitney's caliber of grace and presence are more important than trying to match her voice, "impossible" however someone who shares similar values, morals and beliefs can pull it off…

I understand the families grief but hiding Whitney Houston's problems will just continue the out of control drug use and abusive relationships that are epidemic in America. Cissy Huston should take the brave step to tell the truth., it may save lives. this is no different than Rock Hudson hiding his aids in the 1970's when he could have saved lives and raised public awareness.

God Bless Bobbi Kristina Brown, She is beautiful in her own way, she carries her dads traits, Bobby Brown…

I would love to see Taraji playing her!! Theres a lot of good actresses out there, if they do ever make it, i hope they really take the time to let everyone have their rip moments for whitney and think hard abt who they wanna pick!!!

NO beyonce is not a strong actress…sure she has fame, but shes not that diverse of an actress, she has 2 tones when it comes to acting, shes not experience yet,

i rather see Lark Voorhies or Tichina Arnold playing her over Beyonce any day!!!!

  11. Bourgeois Zee

Polly Lee i think Tichina Arnold would be good as she also has a powerful voice too. However, Lark Voorhies is not looking that great these days. There are rumors that she is bi polar and a coke head. Have you seen her lately?

  12. Sherry Adkison Baptist

Bourgeois Zee I think Kerry Washington could pull it off, but who ever they pick they will have to play her music, no one can match that voice.

God Bless America! Really, Do you go around telling people when you do #2, have a little too much to drink or smoke something that isn't legal? I believe the problem with the world is we know too much about everyone else. Take care of yourself. We are human that includes Whitney Houston and Rock Hudson and whomever else was mentioned. LMAO. The truth is it isn't anyone's business. That's what makes folks turn to reality escape substances in the first place.
Whitney Houston, beautiful, talented and human her grace touched so many… leave it.

I think Vivica Fox would definetely be a good one to play her and I think they share some common things…Love Angela Basset as well she is a strong actoress…whom ever plays her cant they just lip sing it really good cause you will never find a voice like whitney!

They would still need someone to play Young Whitney, at-least if they choose a Younger Person they can age them with makeup
